Keep logging your food intake, but record everything you eat or drink. You will need to maintain a calorie deficit of 500 calories a day to lose a pound a week, so make sure you use a way of eating that you can live with for a long time.

. The key to losing a good amount of weight is miotivation, honesty, and emotions. You need to be motivated for the long haul. Set short and long term goals and write down all the reasons you want to lose weight. Take pictures now. Review your list and old pictures when you need more motivation. Be honest about what you are eating and how much- measure your servings for now. You only cheat yourself when you don't count the extra bites. Deal with your emotions- why are you eating so much that you gained all this weight. Boredom, stress, depression, celebrations. Figure that out and deal with those issues for long term success. And most importantly, don't stop, don't give up. There will be times when you don't lose, use that as practice for the maintenance phase. If you give up, you will certainly gain more.

What they said. You're in the right place for a successful weight loss journey. We're all in the same boat.
Take your journey seriously, every day, but make sure to enjoy life along the ride. Make sure you like the system you're working with. Make sure to write a journal, to learn from your experiences, and make sure to make buddies, to learn from other's success and struggles. Smile Welcome aboard.

I started my weight loss journey on October 4th, 2010 - and this is what I have accomplished so far:

If you look in "find a group" you can find groups trying to lose 100+ (mostly by age range).
There is also one for 200+
