I recently switched to MyFitnessPal as well and have found it better in almost every respect than FatSecret. Mostly, they appear to be actively working on the app while fatsecret hasn't done much in connecting to new equipment or even in incorporating user recipes into the mobile clients.

Fitbit works great with myfitnesspal! The food choices are great also. FS simply has an easier method of inputing food choices, i.e. barcode scanner.
MFP also has a scanner option and it's faster than FS at least on Android.

We are looking at fitbit right now, probably going to buy one. Judging from what i'm reading in this thread, I should probably take a look at the other sites that have an api connection. But it's true, fs has the best food database.

I haven't tried any of these other apps but the difference between FS and any other major diet app is that the others are probably updated more than once every five years.
I was actively using FS two years ago along with the iPhone app, and they are both exactly the same. I find it infuriating that you can't enter things accurately with the iPhone app. I weigh my food, but I can only enter (in most cases) in quarter serving size increments? Silly. The iPad app, which could clearly handle more, is limited in the same way.
And you cannot from the apps read or comment on other people's journals--which is the IMO the biggest selling point of this site (in addition to the database of my "meals" and products I have entered over the years and don't see on other calorie counting apps).. Entering your own journal entry on the iPad app is atrocious. I just discovered you can't even use paragraph breaks.
FS really really helped me lose weight last time (before my second child) and I hate to think about starting over at a new site. I tried using WW but i dropped it because nothing I eat was in the database and it lacks the community of FS--which has been proven to be the most helpful feature of a diet in terms of long term maintenance. But I don't like missing out on integration that would help me and I don't have time to fuss with multiple apps.
I'd way rather pay a bit for a functional service than drip along with a company that can't be bothered to update a tiny bit over the years.
Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.

FS has had updates and you can now access your cookbook from the iphone app.

Going to just also add a vote (incase the admin see it) for a way to make FS more fitbit compatible! It would be really helpful.

I vote yes, too. Though I lost my fitbit over the weekend (YIKES!!) and I miss it so much that I'll buy another one today. I've been a FS member for years, but I need the integration. I can't log on two sites. It's silly and I'm busy.

Just my two cents here but I LOVE my FitBit. Its really helped to keep me moving and motivated. I like being able to see all the numbers.
@Eva- FitBit tracks your steps, stiars, calories burned. It can do more things depending on which one you purchase. I like mine so well that my husband got one also and we compete against each other.
** Goal 1- 20 pounds- 4/30/2013
** Goal 2- get back down to wearing size 16 jeans
** Goal 3- normal blood pressure
** Goal 4- well below "One" Derland
** Goal 5- 600 miles this year in 200 mile increments
** Goal 6- Decreased back and knee pain
Blessings,
Sherill

@Eva57, a fitbit, is, essentially, a fancy pedometer that tracks your steps throughout the day as well as flights of stairs climbed, calories burned (based on steps, flights, age, etc.). It syncs to your computer (or mobile device like iPad/Phone or Droid) and keeps you accountable for moving by giving a visual of that data in addition to the number of hours you've been sedentary vs. active vs. "very" active. It's a great way to be aware of moving all day long. (It also tracks sleep, which is cool and great for weightloss as well.)
The site has a food log, but it is not as sophisticated as this one, nor as detailed/accurate. But it's a pain for those of us trying to do both. Some site will integrate fitbit data on their sites. FS doesn't.

I bought the fitbit and I love it! Just have the little guy though, that just tracks steps. I was wondering if I should move up and get the one that does the sleep etc...Any thoughts on the benefit of the upgrade? I had the fitbit integrate with mapmywalk but MMW does not pull over the info right. I wish and am crossing my fingers that FS starts to integrate with fitbit or at least make the exercise portion the amount of steps or miles rather than time....

It would be awesome if Fat Secret would play nice with FitBit. The only reason I'm still here is because my Fiance refuses to switch and I love the user friendly Fat Secret. So while he's using this, I'm using FS & My Fitness Pal...which I dislike! PLEASE FAT SECRET!! *Fingers Crossed*

Got a FitBit a couple weeks ago and love it. It has Motivated me to move more. I started looking at MyFitnessPal only because there is no FS integration. I have been using FS for a couple years now and love it, but if I can't have FitBit integration soon I will have to go elsewhere.
