Hi, so I'm getting ready to start the 321 diet with my mom, but there are a few problems.

My mom was in a car wreck a few years ago, and she lost most of her teeth from busting them on the steering wheel.

We will need 2 snacks per day that I make, possibly more if the meal and snack bars are too hard to chew for my mom. I've been hunting for ideas in the low and 100-200 cal sections but there doesn't seem like a lot of options for her.

Nothing too crunchy
Not soup
Not expensive fruit (only so many times a week you can eat bananas without getting burnt out)
Nothing with peppers
No dips
No oils (if it's not fried in oil, then she doesn't want to touch it)
Nothing too spicy
Nothing exotic (she was raised on a good old southern/steak and potato kind of cooking)

Right now I'm in my menu planning stage and I've tentatively decided on:
Turkey And Lettuce Roll-Ups
1 1/2 Cup Strawberries Dipped In 1/4 Cup Light Cool Whip®
Ham and Cheese Roll Ups
Apple
Mock Cheese Crackers
Yogurt
Parmesan Chips
100 cal snack bags
Bananas

Any ideas? I'd appreciate it, thanks Smile

Look for Cottage Cheese Doubles by Breakstone (they make sour cream too). They have cottage cheese and a fruit preserve divided in a bowl. There are different flavors and my favorite it the strawberry. It is a nice change from yogurt. Hope this helps and good luck to you and your mom.

Slim-Fast 321. 3 Snacks, 2 Shakes/Meals, 1 Sensible Meal. I like it cuz it's so easy on my sugar, you can get a whole month of food for $74.00 at Wamart.com and just have to pay for the 2 snacks and 1 normal meal a day after that. The less thinking I have to do, the better.

I hate food, what it does to my body is too complicated. Then there is all of the pokeing I have to do... Slim-Fast makes it so I rarely even need shots.

BTW I have seen the cottage cheese doubles, that's an awesome idea. Thanks.

sugar-free/fat-free pudding cups? Around 60-70 calories each. Also sugar-free jello with cool whip on top is good.

You might want to think about apple sauce. And if you have your own food processor you can make your own and have more control of what goes into it. I use my KA stand mixer with fruit & vegetable strainer to make all sorts of purees, so if you have this, then that will work, too.

You might also consider oatmeal. You can usually buy oats in bulk at very low prices at almost any grocery store and there are plenty of recipes for making homemade oatmeal available online. It's low cal and a great source of dietary fiber.

As a southern gal I have learned to appreciate cherry tomatoes.cucumber and cucumber salad, steamed cauliflower, steamed greenbeans, spagehetti squash popcorn. Snacks do not have to be in a bag. Think about yummy item you eat at meals and make more for a snack the following day.Good Luck!

The importance of setting your Recommended Daily Intake RDI
I agree... If you stick with the default you will most likely not see the results you want. I adjust my calorie range for every 5-10 pounds lost. I need to redo mine today.

If your aren't logging or have your preferences set to private it makes it very hard to give specific help. But as others have said, if you are hungry... Eat more!
