Quitting smoking while losing weight

I just quit smoking three days ago and I began my diet and exercise program around the same time. I'm hanging in there and doing well, but it's definitely an extra challenge. I was just wondering if anyone else is dealing with the same issue.

Count me in! I did quit towards the end of a long diet about 5 years ago but lapsed a year later. Now getting back on track! I go with reducing and now down to 6 a day........ last time I got it down to 5 then found the waiting for the next one more irritating than having none lol lol. Fingers crossed it goes the same way. Cant decide whether it makes it worse or distracts from the diet! Either way both make me get out walking more cos I dont crave food or fags when walking

Yeah, do whatever works for you. I found that trying to cut back just irritated me like it did for you. I'm doing the patch. It's still not easy but it's working. The key is to not give in to those cravings. They actually go away in 20 minutes or so. I've just tried and failed too many times with quitting smoking and losing weight, but I'm learning that failure is more like training. You learn what to do so you can succeed in the future. So, I'm using those tools now, and I think I can do it this time. good luck to you.

I also hold on to the fact that I actually DISLIKE anything having power over me (Ok so Im a control freak lol)...so cravings are like a test.......... and Im gonna win...... so there!!! hehehe. We all have the odd slip but as long as we are going in the direction we WANT, then its just a matter of time and gritting your teeth.......... and waiting for that lovely smug feeling when it comes. Yeah, I know how you feel. The common problem that smokers have when they decide to quit is that they tend to eat more because their mouth is looking for something. It's a challenge but you can do it!
