I got the "Eat Right Every Time Guide" for the Abs diet I am reading through and got this idea there. Take a whole wheat pita (I found some that were 60 calories and whole grain at Walmart), and warm up roast beef lunchmeat. I made a sauce out of plain ff yogurt, diced cucumbers, dill, a splash of vinegar and a little stevia. I also added lettuce and tomato and sauteed red onions to it. It turned out really good and was a good substitute for gyros.

Hi - this does sound good. What exactly is stevia and where do you get it?

That sounds sooo good. I'll have to try it! Gotta skip the falafel though...so good, so fattening!

Stevia is a sweetner that has no affect on the glycemic index, unlike splenda. I got it in a box of 50 packets for $5.99 at Meijer. It is also available in a liquid form.

Is the stevia (or other sweetner) necessary for the taste? It actually sounds good without a sweetner.

I think it would be fine without it too. I did just the ff plain yogurt and cucumbers, but that taste alone wasn't good to me at all. It might have been fine on the sandwich though. So then I added the little vinegar, dill and stevia. I'm not sure how they make the traditional taziki (sp?) sauce.
