If one is not honest about our out of control eating habits and how we donot have enough power in ourself to lose weight. we must look to God to get the power and ability for strength that we donot have.

Just as it states in the Bible, "We can do all things thru Christ which strengthens us". I firmly believe this.

I agree too. I pray and ask God to help me on this journey each and everyday!

Surely taking responsibility for your own actions is more "honest" than passing off responsibility to a higher authority?

"donot" sounds like a Freudian slip for donut Smile

When I'm praying and/or reading Scripture [or devotionals], my mind is diverted from what could become mindless eating which would only end up in weight-gain. It has also helped me to become more responsible and accountable in my overall life in the process.

My motto is now "eat to satisfy the hunger, not feed the hunger"

Passing off responsibility????? That's not passing off anything. That is believing and asking for help. It has worked in my life in the past. I mean some 24 years ago and I'm 54 now. I have no problem asking God for help with this journey or any other problem area or sticking point in my life. Honestly I need God's help daily and have no shame in that or guilt asking him to help. He betters me and that's all I want to be is better.

I had an entire response to this, but deleted it because I realised if you can't see the paradox, in what you are saying there, nothing I say is ever going to explain it for you.

God helps those who help themselves.

i dont believe in god or ay religeon, but whatever gets you through and works is good for you.

however i think a god would concentrate more on those without access to food than those with too much.

everytime you eat something you should donate the cash equivalent to the poor or hungry,thereby giving something back in a christian way

You can still ask Him for help and the strength to get you through. Nothing wrong with that at all.

"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference. "

Or better yet -- One of my all time favorites --

"Footprints in the Sand

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky. In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from
anguish, sorrow or defeat,I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.

Why, when I needed you most,you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
seen only one set of footprints,
is when I carried you."

Except that almost all studies of 12 step programmes show they have about the same success rate as no programme at all... And the ones that don't are the ones conducted by the programmes themselves.

I know it is hard for some but thankfully I've been able to reduce my intake of whole grains and increase my intake of bacon, eggs, and butter. It's all about putting in the effort to resist the bad and choke down the good.
