How long does it take to reach goal weight?

The website is great in that it's given me a much higher calorie intake available each day than any other website, but it doesn't give any clue about how long it will take to reach goal weight, or what expected weight loss rate cold be. Is this deliberate so people don't get disheartened or am I missing an option somewhere on the site?

You have to figure out the balance for yourself - you could start by trying to figure out how much you are eating now and decrease it by 500-1000 calories/day in order to lose 1-2 lbs./week. In order to lose the weight you have to burn more calories than you consume - this program does not know how many calories you are burning and will just give you rough estimates. My suggestion is to find a BMR estimator to determine your basal metabolic rate which basically is the amount of calories your body needs for survival. Then you can add your activities to that - so if your BMR is 1500 and you burn 500 calories from moving around or from exercise, then you have 2000 calories burned - you would need to eat less than 1500 calories to essentially lose 1 lb. per week - all estimates of course as your body has hormones and fluid and those will fluctuate and cause variations. But in the beginning stages you should be able to lose weight just by reducing your portions. Fill up on veggies, drink water, do a combo of cardio and weight training - make small changes in order to eventually live a healthy lifestyle and don't go on a "diet".

That is SO helpful - thanks! I have been so disheartened by calorie trackers which just say 1200 calories with no explanation. I find it really hard to be convinced by a figure which just seems to be the answer for every diet for everyone, so it is great to get some understanding of where the figures come from, and convinces me that I might be able to make things work this time!

Should you weigh yourself with or without clothes?
I weigh every morning after I come out of the shower, before I get dressed to go to work. As said before, consistency is key.

Joined my first challenge
Just joined my first challenge. I'm hoping this will finally get me motivated to lose my extra kilos. It's so hard to motivate myself to exercise when it's so darn cold outside.
