If you're thinking of taking it to help lose weight it will only help you lose water weight. Which happens naturally. You could eat natural diaretic foods like bell peppers and such.

You may cut back on sodium. That makes you retain alot of water. The water pill could throw off your system and dehydrate you some.

Unless you have an existing medical condition (in which case you should never take a water pill without consulting with your doctor first), the best way to reduce water retention is: drink more water. And as a previous poster mentioned, you could also try some natural diuretic such as coffee, tea, cucumber, parsley, celery, etc.

Just give it a couple of days, and try to cut back on the sodium.

I have to agree here. OTC diuretics aren't the healthiest thing for you. It could cause a mean electrolyte imbalance. Your best bet- as was mentioned above- cut back on the NaCl and eat from a natural selection that will aid you in losing the water weight.

Also, if your fluid intake is restricted while you're ingesting high amounts of sodium, your kidneys will find it hard to give up the water causing water retention which in turn leads to weight gain. So despite the inversely proportionate nature of this advice-- drink up! Smile
