I was recently diagnosed with diabetes. My primary doctor says it is mild but my cardiologist has put me on a very strict diet. don't think there is a name for it, but I'm not allowed any bread, rice, potatoes, noodles or anything that has flour in it. Also told not to have any butter/ole or processed foods. That leaves me with fresh fruits of there are only four I like. Raw veggies as I can't swollow cooked ones and lean meats. I also don't eat seafood. I'm afraid his crazy diet will throw my body into starvation mode. I need to lose about 55 pounds which will help my blood pressure, diabetes, heart, and possibly my back problems. I was told there was a bread made without flour. Does anyone have any advice for me?

Did your cardiologist refer you to a nutritionist? That would be my suggestion.
With my last pregnancy I had gestational diabetes. It was controlled through diet alone. My hubby would search for recipes to help control my blood sugar and I had my list from my nutritionist of "free foods" and those that had the hidden sugar. I actually lost weight during that pregnancy (I needed to) and my baby was a healthy 9 pounder.
Some of the tricks I would use to reward myself was if I had a good blood sugar level two hours after dinner, I would WALK to the ice cream shop and get a small ice cream. Between the low sugars and the walk, I was rewarding my "good" behavior from the meal. And for the chocolate cravings? I would eat reeses peanut butter cups. Pop a small one. Seemed that there was enough protein in the peanut butter to not send my blood sugar into a crazy fit.
Anyhow, I don't know of a bread made without flour but I am going to guess that it won't taste good. My hubby had been diagnosed as gluten intolerant for a few years and we would make lentil bread which was very good but not diabetic friendly. That was the only non-wheat bread that was decent.
AGain, if you can get to a nutritionist, you will fare better. Good luck to you.
