I have been on Atkins now for 2 years - the first year I lost 80 pounds, the second year I mantained that weight loss and got use to my NEW smaller body. Since I would like to lose another 30 pounds this year I'm going back to induction again !! My diabetes, HBP, and high cholesterol are all in normal ranges now too. In the last year my husband has also lost 50 pounds. We love Atkins, it is not a diet to us but a Lifestyle. I feel better than I have in over 20 years. I recently turned 60 years old and don't look it or act it either lol !!

It comes down to calories. He is right. If you can't restrict calories without going low carb, then try your best with what you have and go shopping next time. :)

intermittent fasting
I use it sometimes when I know I am going out to eat, but my calorie intake is currently high enough to where I am able to eat ~4 times a day.
