First, I would go see your doctor to check as to the extent of your pain to eliminate anything serious that may need to be medically addressed in respect to your tendon such as a rupture or tear. If everything's okay, you may just need to find more appropriate footwear to give your feet more support but check with your doctor first. Taking medication could be pointless over time if there's more of a serious issue at play. Good luck and I hope there's nothing overly serious with your foot.

What kind of shoes are you wearing? There are many kinds of shoes now that help with plantar fasciitis without having to buy custom orthotics. The last time I had a problem (now about 14 years ago) I saw an advertisement for Birkenstock shoes and testimonials said they helped a lot with plantar fasciitis or heal spurs due to the firm cork sole. I bought some, I’ve been wearing them since, my foot healed up and I’ve had no problems in at least 13 years. You don’t have to get Birkenstocks (though I love them and have about 60 pairs now because they never wear out),now there are other brands with the firm soles too. Just avoid soft soled shoes which actually allow the sole to stretch increasing the inflammation. For medication, seek an anti-inflammatory. For a diet, choose one that helps control inflammation.

I had heel spurs about a year ago. They hurt worst first thing in the morning, the doctor explained to me why but I can't remember exactly what he said. The podiatrist used ulta sound to break them up and I got custom orthotics to make sure they didn't reoccur. A friend of mine that also had heel spurs got rid of them just by buying some new shoes. You should see a doctor and make sure that is what your problem is.

I would agree with others that you need to see a doctor. Foot pain can be caused by bad shoes, but something that heals overnight to a certain degree and then is bad at night is something that is getting worse through using your foot. Your doctor might have something to help but you would probably need at least an evaluation and maybe an x-ray to see if it is soft tissue or bone. Good Luck! I have plantar fasciities that is helped with the orthotics but no bone problems.

I too had an inflammed spur years ago, it was treated with intense bursts of ultra sound, ibuprofen & plenty of stretching. apperantly 75% of the female population do have spurs, but they are only a problem when the tissue surrounding them gets inflammed. I put up with it, til i could bearly walk in the morning, especially going down stairs! once i jumped out the back of a lorry and landed on the spur & just crumbled on the floor in pain. only then i went to see my doc. wish i had done it sooner! since then I am pain free, if it get a bit tight, I stretch immediately. any stretch for the achillis(is that how u spell it?) is great. Take care, hope this helps

I am a postie and often suffered from heel spurs. Of course good footwear is important but I found that the stretching exercises helped me the most. Look online and you'll find quite a few good ones especially for this ailment. Take your time, not just 5 minutes, but maybe 15 morning and night. Makes a huge difference in my life! good luck D.
