Hi, I'm Bbe. I'm 49 in Maryland. I joined Adkins on March 25th. Sunday will be two weeks and I will weigh in for the first time. I joined fatsecret a couple days ago. Looking forward to being part of this group. This is the first time I have tried being part of any type of group to discuss diets. This is a touchy subject for me but from reading different post and other forums on this site, I am definitely not alone. That makes me feel good....

it looks very low.Having extreme deficits is not advisable for long term fat loss because the body will go into starvation mode lowering your calorie burnt rate and energy, so your loss rate long term could drop and as soon as you get back to a normal diet you would gain weight back even if the calories will be below the theoretical maintenance level.

A generally accepted strategy is to keep the calorie deficit between 500 and 1000 a day ON AVERAGE, possibly varying intake and macro to keep the body metabolism up and to exercise to preserve the lean mass.
That is the principle, then everybody has different preferences so for some low carbs work great, for others low fat etc.

The most important issue is whether the approach is sustainable long term for you.

Welcome to the Atkins diet.
I have been doing it for years and super love it. I hope it will work great for you.
Just make sure you follow the rules of eating on Atkins.

Glad that you posted. We are in the same boat here most of us. Trying our best and coming to grip with a few things that it may be hard to deal with.

Hi Bbe,first off welcome to the group!Well, you're almost there!Wow,I can't believe you haven't sneeked a peek on the scale.Good Luck on your weigh in,and don't let the numbers define your sucess. If your clothes fit better and you feel good, the scale will catch up.You may find that you need to stay on induction longer. For me,I am now 3wks on induction.I felt like I muddled through the first 2wks and didn't meet my full potential. My personal goal,is to lose 15lbs. before moving into OWL.Looking forward to see how you made out.Keep us posted.

thanks liv001 and tewey. I will stay on induction for at least another week. I feel like I stumbled through these first two weeks as well. I'm looking forward to my weigh in. I lost 5 lbs before I started on march 25th just by cutting down. my goal is to lose 66 lbs. I will keep you posted.

Hello
Hello finding what works and is sustainable for you is key. Also burning more calories then what we consume is part of the equation too. This journey is a marathon and not a sprint. Good luck
