Finding a Maintenance food plan after Atkins

I've successfully lost 60 lbs with Atkins and have been maintaining for about 9 months. I'm inching back up, having gained 8 lbs in the last few months. I'm having trouble maintaining on Atkins. I've never been on any other "diet". I'm trying to find a maintenance plan that allows me to eat fruits and yogurts and nuts and lean meats and vegetables. Any suggestions? What I'm stuck on is the lack of variety. I would like to be able to eat an occasional pasta or maybe a whole wheat bagel for example.

It sounds like you did not follow all 4 phases of Atkins--sounds like you stayed on Induction the whole time you were dieting?

Induction is a 2-week jump start to weight loss and a way to get rid of your cravings. MOST of your weight should be lost in OWL (phase 2) where you introduce new foods slowly and methodically according to the OWL carb ladder. (all of the foods you listed would be added in in phase 2) Then with 10ish pounds left you head to Pre-Maintenance and then Maintenance. You REALLY should read about the amazing Atkins plan.

Hi, Agree with previous post. I lost 60lb a few years back on Atkins. It has crept back and then some (although I did have 2 babies in that time) I followed the induction the WHOLE time. Whilst the loss was staggeringly quick, it wasn't possible to maintain. I am back on the plan now and have followed it for 8 weeks on the induction phase. I plan to do this until I am not "overweight"anymore (should be nxt week!!), then I will switch to OWL. Grab yourself a copy of the book (i just downloaded onto my ipad) and curl up on the sofa one evening for a good read. The carb ladder is vital part of knowing your body's tolerance and understanding how atkins can become your way of life! Good luck!!!!

Adkins books also pop up in thrift stores often. Bought the guide and recipe book for a friend both for less than 4$ recently. Have done adkins in the past i can't stick to it as high fat makes me sick and i eat little meat. It's working great for my friend. She is working with her doc who has modified it a bit to fit her health issues.

I don't know what you did, but it wasn't Atkins. If you followed it correctly and progressed up the carb ladder you'd be eating all those things now. Read the book and study it. Follow the plan to the letter and it works. When you don't, you get the results you are getting.

Healthy weight loss is about 1 lb per week. At the beginning of a healthier way of eating you tend to lose more, so 14 lb in 6 months should be no problem. Good luck :)

Sending you my best! Salute your determination to shake yourself back to the place! This week has been strange for me, too. It's like a dark cloud that I'm trying to shake off, too. :)
