Losing the last 10 pounds...again!

I need motivation, people! Please?! Confused Here's my story.

When I moved to California from Canada in 2008, I gained over 50 pounds in a year (due to becoming a housewife, not moving much and eating. all. day.). Fast forward a couple of years, I had gotten serious about my health and fitness, and started going to the gym regularly, counting calories, jogging, all that good stuff. Over the span of 2 years, I went from weighing 170 pounds to 140 pounds, (most of the weight loss occurred towards the end of those 2 years). I looked and felt great, stood beside my sister at her wedding in Canada and felt confident and beautiful. Even more beautiful than I had ever felt when I was thin. But, as soon as I returned from the wedding my work schedule changed to longer shifts, and I started taking night classes at my local community college. I no longer had time to go to the gym on the way home from work (since I was going straight from work to school), and resorted to a lot of fast food for dinner. In just over a year, I've gained back 10 pounds. It doesn't sound like much, but it looks and feels like much more. I feel sluggish, weak, out of shape, and have lost a significant amount of confidence. I feel like a failure, and am finding it impossible to motivate myself this time around. My willpower is zero. While I make healthy dinners for myself and my husband, I make poor snacking choices more often than not. I absolutely don't have time or money for a gym membership, so I am determined to work out at home after dinner, but every night 10 pm rolls around, it's bedtime, and I haven't worked out.

Someone please help, I appreciate any and all advice and encouragement! Smile

What about walking after dinner and slowly turning that into jogs. Aim for 3 nights a week depending on your schedule at work.
Also for food remove the things that tempt you the most. If you have to go out for it you may think twice about munching it.
Lucky for us there is lots of support available here..

I just finished making my own "Snack bags" for the week. I filled 7 bags with 12 Almonds in each one and another seven bags with 1/2 cup of frosted mini shredded wheat. I am taking them all to work so I can have one bag of each snack. I usually have one between breakfast and lunch and another between lunch and dinner. I prepare my breakfast and lunch the night before while cooking dinner.
I go to the gym in the Morning before work. Good luck

Thanks for the replies! I started a weekly yoga class today, and have been doing a little bit better with my eating habits in the last few days. I spent a good hour yesterday writing up an exercise and nutrition plan/schedule for the next few months (this worked well for me last time) and I am going to do some weight training right now! I definitely need to get in the habit of packing my lunches at night, since I do occasionally forget to do it in the morning, and then have to grab something less than virtuous. Thanks for the tips!

I also make snack bags but depending on what it is ..if can last as in nuts then I makes a head of time but if it's celery or apple I cut them up in the morning.

1st Goal: 150 lbs
2nd Goal: 135 lbs
3rd Goal: 125 lbs

I think it's really hard to break yourself out of an eating rut. I was in the same spot--feeling bad, sluggish, tired of eating junk. For me it's helpful to follow some kind of strict eating plan for a week or so to get yourself off junky simple carbs and sugar. Pick a day, mentally prepare, plan your meals and buy all the food you need. You don't have to spend a lot of money. At first focus on eating more of the healthy stuff than beating yourself up over eating the stuff that makes you tired and mad at yourself.

Once you have some weightloss under your belt, it's easier to forge ahead. Also, make sure you are eating enough. Are you snacking because you are hungry? You need to eat more healthy stuff. Or is it emotional? You have to figure it out and work on the mental side too. This is the hard part but you can't lose without it.

Last, you are going to fall off the wagon. This is a fact. Make a plan for how you'll deal with it. Forge ahead. You have done this before and you can do it again. Really! (This totally turned into a pep talk to myself, too.)

Thanks for the advice beets_yum! I have been doing pretty well for the last few days. Simply getting involved again in the FatSecret community has seemed to motivate me quite a bit, and I've loved the support I get here! I've realized that I definitely snack out of boredom. In the last few days I've been focusing on eating only when I'm truly hungry, and eating more fresh fruit and almonds, as opposed to processed carbs. It is getting easier as the days go by, and I really am confident that I can get back to a healthier weight and a healthier relationship with food.

i know exactly the feeling,,you atlest gained 10 pounds in a year,,i gained 10 pounds (4 kilos) in 2 1/2 months !!because i stopped working out ..no time due to my job..work 6 days a week..snacked every nite on crunchy carbs..started again working out early morning, still havent control my binging at nite for crucny stuff..i know thats the problem ..im sure you will get to your goal again,,i wish i could control myself at nite ..thats what doing the damage..
