I am new to this site and low carb diet. I understand how to calculate carbs but what I am not sure of is can you use low carb"counting" and net carb "counts" in the same day? Or do you need to use one or the other and stick to it?
In it to win it!!! I hope everone is having a great day!!

low carbs is an arbitrary restricition so it doesnt really matter how you plan to do so

Count the net carbs... they are the carbs that impact your blood sugar. Things like fiber and sugar alcohols don't impact it.

Add the fiber count to your preferences where you log in your food journal and you can easily get net carbs, which under Atkins is the most important number. Ex: Is the 1.5 minute flax meal muffin that is a good fix for when you feel you need some sort of bread product. It has 21 carbs but 18 grams of fiber so it is only a 3 count on your net carbs. Tastes pretty good and for me makes me think I am eating some bread. Good luck and if you haven't all ready done it, go to the atkins site and read up - its a good site and the program works. I've lost 51# since Easter and now working on the second round of another 50#.
