Darn those guys! They ALWAYS lose more quickly and easily than us gals. As hard as it can be, never compare your results with those of a guy.
As a diabetic, I'm guessing you're on some type of prescription medication??? There are those on this site who can probably address exactly how various medications can impact one's weight loss journey, but I know that medications, in general, can make it more difficult to lose weight. More difficult? Yes. Impossible? No.
You've just come onto this site, so my advice would be to keep logging your foods here, every day, every meal, every food. That will give us all a chance to look and see what's going on. Oftentimes, we can spot a problem once we see several days' worth of food logs.
Be sure you're getting adequate protein and fat and keeping your net carbs around 20 (for Induction). Your foundation veggies should account for about 12-15 of those net carbs. Be sure you're drinking your water daily (divide your weight in half, as a number, and try to drink that many ounces daily).
Are you following the 2010 Atkins book or an earlier version? Or....have you done the tutorials over on the Atkins site for Induction/Phase 1? Are there any areas where you had specific questions?
I'm sure once you get several days of food logs posted, we'll have some ideas to get you going. And....who knows? By then, you might not need any help!

I'm not sure exactly what could be going on in your case. They say it takes 24-48 hours for your liver to deplete its stored glycogen once you reduce your carbohydrate intake to 20 grams or less per day. After that your body starts to utilize stored and dietary fat for energy. This is what Atkins calls the "Induction Phase". Typically you would see a sharp 10-15 pound drop those first two weeks. That certainly was my experience. By the way a lot of that is water weight so take that with a grain of salt. I was running to the bathroom every half hour or so for a few days until my body adapted.
The thing that concerns me is that you mention you are diabetic. I have heard of studies that suggest a Ketogenic Diet with under 20 net carbs per day (Atkins Induction phase could qualify) helped the volunteers lower or eliminate their need for diabetes medications in some cases. Given your circumstances however? If I were you I would strongly consider going to my doctor and asking if he or she thinks Atkins is appropriate for you.

You lost what?!
Ha ha ha, I can't wait to weigh in at the end of the month and see where I am. I imagine I'll be somewhere close to a sperm whale's brain.

Swollen ankles???
Yes I get this. The main reasons tend to be sodium intake, lack of water, and hormones. I see from your food log that most days you are over 3000 and somethimes up to 5000mg in sodium. "They" ...
