Good Morning all........
I need alittle help this morning with my menu---
I'm alittle short on fat but I don't need any more protein or carbs, there's nothing to use butter on/with
so I may have to just eat 2 Tbsp. of butter.
ANY THOUGHTS.....
Thanks

That doesn't seem like a good idea. Why not add some healthy fats like walnuts, or something, if you really
need
more fat. What kind of diet are you on where you would consider eating butter, anyway?

Hi,
I'm doing Atkins & have done very well but this morning I ate alittle turkey soup instead of my usual b'fast ( because I'm alittle cold ).. so now I'm short on the fat. I do have some pecans & walnuts so maybe I'll do that.
Thank You for the help

Ha! TOFU, I asked the same thing a few months ago (even the threat to eat butter-yuk)-my protien and carb numbers were good but needed to add more healthy fats. I was told about the miricle of Coconut oil! I add it to my fried eggs even though I use a non-stick pan and don't need it. Someone adds it to her morning coffee. Use it for pan frying chicken or low fat meats like turkey burgers or bison. You could also collect bacon grease and use it similarly but Coconut oil is tastless (I don't like coconut and I can't taste it), SUPER healthy for you (google health effects of coconut oil), and it's a solid so has a long shelf life (melts better than butter once it hits the pan). I have to be carefull- my DH is allergic to coconuts/palm so I have to be sure he won't be tasting my food, but it works.

Pecans and walnuts aren't approved on atkins until owl stages, just so you know. I would suggest adding fats in with full fat dressings (maybe dip your veggies in it, or add it to salad), your daily cream ration, or maybe just choosing skinned chicken instead of skinless.
In fact as fat is the most important part of this diet, I would choose to plan your menu in the future around that first, then your veggies/fiber and then protein. Good luck!

Cannot see your journal so not sure
What do you cook your food in
I have fatty proteins and use fat to cook in
I add fat with my veggies (like salad dressing or butter or oil)
It does not take a lot to get fat percentage up there

Coconut oil, and yes our under appreciated butter. Try to get grass fed. Nuts are good for you in moderation, but not the nut oils as they are rather unstable. And did I mention coconut oil? It took me a lot of time to make it part of my diet, as I am not a big fan of the taste. Now I have only one regret, that I did not retrain my taste buds earlier. And by the way, I add it to my morning coffee (I drink it black, with no sugar, and practically cannot tell the difference, other that it stays on top once it melts, which is kind of weird for a "creamer".)

Have you ever heard of Tibetan or Himalayan buttered tea? I haven't tried it yet, but being a big fan of hot tea I plan to now. I read some articles online and it really sounds interesting. That would be a way to have butter when you have nothing to spread it on, and you could do like Ingria does with her coffee but try coconut oil in tea instead of coffee, or even real butter in your coffee. I think I'm going to do some experimenting with drinking fats. If you think of it like you're "creamer" it doesn't sound so weird.

Adding to what thinner said.... the grilled chicken is a blessing. I've taken to marinating boneless breasts overnight then give them a quick cook in a skillet or griddle. I too worked in a school ...

Craving
Well good luck with those challenges. There must be a good reason you feel you can't have just one of the carb, lower calorie beers. I admire your discipline and determination.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
