I have been on Jenny Craig for 2 months now. I have followed the plan 95%. I have lost 15 pounds and do consider this plan a success.
I am getting discouraged with food and food choices however. I am starting to get just plain grossed out by the food.
Some of it is ok to eat, so I went to my favorites (or the ones I could stomach at least)
Now they are starting to gross me out.
Just a little frustrated with it all and needed to vent.
I decided this week I am going on my own to give my palate a break from JC frozen meals. I hope I dont blow it.
Do you have any tips to make the food taste better?

Maybe take what you've learned from Jenny Craig about what portion sizes look like and how much you should eat, and try to do it on your own with real food! That's what you're going to have to do after you lose the weight anyway. You definitely aren't going to be on JC forever and if you are grossed out by the food, you aren't likely to stick with it much longer.
Food is not only fuel, but also pleasure, social interaction and a lot of other things. You don't need to deny yourself everything to lose weight and you definitely need to figure out how you're going to maintain your loss after you lose the weight anyway.

As someone once said, your car will not run well on diesel fuel. The same with your body. If you are putting poor quality fuel in, your body is not going to like it. That's what is great about the common sense diet. You learn to eat healthy, nutritional food for life. Obviously you have no intention of living off of JC food. Try simply eating healthy food. If you are serious about losing weight you have to exercise. Even simply walking for half an hour a few days a week will make a big difference.

I did Jenny Craig decades ago and lost well on it. After a certain point they start asking you to introduce some of the days of week where you plan out your own food. Then you transition to more days. As I recall, when one got to maintenance it was all one's own food.
So if you like the support and the accountability that the structure provides and are interested in making a gradual transition I would just talk to them about it. They are more flexible about letting you switch menus around than you might think. Switch out the days with the worst food. They used to have an exchange based system for your own foods, so if you haven't gotten an education about what kinds of food to eat it's a gradual non threatening education.
This is of course coming from someone rabidly anti- exchange. I ain't eating veggis when I want only garbanzo beans to snack on and I have the calorie's to spare. But I feel like I at least understand the trade offs I'm making.

But that is the key. With Nutrisystem which is pretty much the same plan... just cheaper and not frozen foods. I also don't always follow the exchange rules and will deviate with some whole wheat crackers instead of my protein serving.
But I understand what I'm trading off for as well and what it will do to my plan. Education about nutrition is everything.
As for how to eat off plan, talk to one of their counselors and find out if there is a suggested plan for taking a few days off and eating on your own. I'm not sure how they handle that since they charge you for weeks of use and not just the food. If they have nothing to offer you then I can share with you what the break down is for for my plan in terms of exchanges and calories.

You lost what?!
Ha ha ha, I can't wait to weigh in at the end of the month and see where I am. I imagine I'll be somewhere close to a sperm whale's brain.

Yes I get this. The main reasons tend to be sodium intake, lack of water, and hormones. I see from your food log that most days you are over 3000 and somethimes up to 5000mg in sodium. "They" ...

Have you thought of joining an Atkins challenge? You can get as much or as little support there as you want to have. :)
