My husband and i started Fat Secret about 1 week ago. Logging in everything, I really enjoy the buddy system. We are about to enter in our second month of Insanity. Since starting Insanity we have lost a few inches but gained some lbs. I realize how this will happen but are happy for the inches lost. When we signed into Fat Secret.com and reduced our RDI by 500 calories. But at the end of the day we both feel like we are eating too much. Should we feel this way? Should we reduce our RDI more? I am also so confued ahout entering the Exercises. Can someone explain that to me?

The RDI is an average for your height, weight, and age. I find I lose about 2 pounds a week if I stay at about 75% to 80% of my RDI. Reduce it for a week of so and see how it goes. I don't enter any exercise, still can't exercise much, so can't help you with that but from reading other posts it may also overestimate the amount of calories burned.

If you're eating good food with low calorie density, it's definitely possible to eat a large quantity of food but stil not be consuming all that many calories- consider that for little more than a hundred calories, you can eat a whole bunch of brocolli or 4-5 cups of cooked cauliflower.
If you're doing a high intensity program like insanity, it's definitely important to keep your body fueled. Personally, I find my FS RDI to be a bit useless- it's pretty low if I enter sedentary for my activity level but it's too high if I put low active. Try using another calculator if you're not sure- I like the ones at freedieting.com. You also don't mention how you did with your RDI in your first week on FS- did you lose? gain? not track? Hard to know if you're eating too little or too much without that info.
Not sure what your question is for the exercise calculator. FS is configured to account for 24 hours a day (since you burn calories no matter what you do, it's just a matter of how many). It automatically starts you out with 8 hrs sleep, 16 hrs resting and any activities you add are taken out of your resting hours. If you have an HRM or other measure of calories burned, select "Other" and enter your cals manually. If don't have another way to measure it, I'd record your insanity workouts as circuit training (slightly lower) or calisthenics (slightly higher). Hope that helps!

It is hard to tell if you are eating the right kind of food when not all of it is logged. People will be able to help more if you log/track every piece of food that goes into your mouth.

I hope you are just not logging all food, but if you are eating at approximately 1200+ or slightly lower (woman) and around 1500 as a man, do not feel hungry and exhausted, and what is the most important, eat real nutritious food, there is no need to increase your intake to meet RDI. I would rather concentrate on quality of food than quantity. If you feel that you are always hungry and exhausted, you have to increase it. There were a lot of discussions on this forum, and some people seem to eat less than others regardless of their body weight and levels of weight loss success. Our bodies do not work in exactly the same way, and we do not eat exactly the same food. The number is for guidance only, you have to listen to your body. As for some of the numbers I see on your calendar, I hope those are just missed entries.

I agree with Ingria. I also looked at a couple of days of your diet journal and it appears you could eat healthier. People accuse me of starving myself and even fasting but mostly what I have done is stripped away all of the add-ons (cheese, sauces, sour cream, etc) and stay away from breads, pasta, and dairy products. I eat chicken, pork, and seafood instead of red meat or anything fried.

I find the FS RDI not right. I'm just going to pick an amount and see what happens and then adjust as needed.

I use to feel my RDI was too high, but since ive been following WW Im finding myself almost reaching the RDI limit at 80%+ but prior i would be at 65% or lower. Just be sure to eat healthy meals in decent portions. You gotta give to get!
