Can you gain 2 pounds in one day?

I went on the scale first thing Wednesday morning and I weight 182 I measured myself and I had lost one inch but no weight. First thingt this morning I weighed myself and I weighed 184. I only had 1538 calories the day before. Is that possible, to gain 2 pounds in one day with only 1538 calories? I know I did not gain any muscle because I have not been able to wk out due to an injury, but I dropped my calories by 200 to make up for that.I am still a inch smaller thank God.

It's trivially easy to gain 2 pounds of weight in a day. Drink a glass of water and you can get a pound right there. If your glycogen is low because you're following a lower-carbohydrate diet (or did some exercise recently), and you have a higher-carb day, you can add a couple pounds of glycogen immediately.

This isn't weight worth worrying about though - you're probably concerned about body fat, not just "weight." And on that point, it is theoretically possible to add 2 pounds of fat in one day, but impossible as a practical matter. You would have to consume over 7000 calories more than you burned.

If your weight increases that much overnight, and you did not go on massive eating binge, you can rest assured it is not body fat. Just normal bodyweight and scale "noise" masking the measure of actual body fat levels.

Total weight can increase while body fat decreases, and vice versa. The amount of misery and confusion caused by equating scale weight with body fat is one of the biggest problems with weight management, in my opinion. Don't read too much into each day's weigh-in. Look for the long-term trends.

No Carbs At All?
I see there is a challenge coming up the first that is NO carbs. I have been keeping my carbs pretty low but am at a loss as to how to eat absolutely no carbs. Can I get some ideas? thanks
