I only found out the other night that I eat when I have strong emotions, I came in and I was upset and I started looking for something to eat or drink, and because I am trying to lose weight and being really serious this time, I actually noticed why I was doing it! So I went to bed. Short term solution I know but at least I noticed, which I guess is good

You are ROCKING IT! Seeing the "issue" is HUGE! There are a couple things that you can do... When the emotions arise, you must ask yourself & BE HONEST, why are you letting this person get to you? Are THEY 'worth' the calories & guilt of unwanted/needed eating? You must train yourself to remember that THEY are NOT worth you risking YOUR health any more…They CAN’T be allowed to be your “boss”! --- THEN go punch the bed/pillows/stack of towels (just not any living thing or wall...lol) Not only is the punching therapeutic, but you'll burn off a couple calories…YEA FOR YOU! If it is out of control (or even if it’s just bad), I HIGHLY recommend a book by Dr. John Townsend "Who's Pushing Your Buttons". OMG good book, (and I do not know this person). It absolutely got me to deal with my sister-in-law (the bit**) eating. Good Luck! We're here for you!!!!

Wink It is not an easy road but we CAN DO IT! Take it one day at a time!! I work in a tuck shop at school and the choclates talk to me all day and shout my name! I know the difficulty!! But I eat my apple and drink water or take a walk! Just try you best and take it one day at a time, and the most important ask GOD to help you! We are there for each other!! Good luck my friend!!

I have found that "going crazy" and eating may have nothing whatever to do with emotions. It has to do with deficiencies from denying yourself the foods you need. There may be an emotional trigger that sets off the cascade of eating, but a binge may be what your body needs physiologically. Eating a low protein or low fat diet will sooner or later cause a binge. You can't live on willpower forever.

This would be a good question for the nutritionist over on the atkins.com boards. Colette Heimowitz is her name. Post your question with her name in the title and she will respond.
