Sleep and slim

When ever I start a new diet , I can never sleep, been up since 2.30am. Does any body else suffer this,,, I am gonna be so tired to day. Ineed tips to sleep and more tips to keep alert at work,Shock :

I'm not sure if this is related to my eating and exercising, or if there are other factors. Essentially, I find it weird that we shouldn't be able to maintain a proper sleep pattern when we eat right - other than of course the fact that a significant weight loss will give you oodles of extra energy.
Make "dig deep" in your psyche and feel if there could be other factors, like stress?

Is it possible you are waking up from hunger? I sometimes dont eat after about 6pm, however I find my body wakes me up because I am hungry. We are all different though.

I haven't ever experienced this problem, but I would imagine it is from exercising. Have you tried taking a detox bath before going to bed? A really hot bath really knocks me out, and I feel great the next morning!

I used to have the problem where I was such a light sleeper that hunger kept me awake when I was dieting. But at the time I had insomnia and often would lay in bed for hours, waiting to fall asleep.

I gave up gluten, and I no longer have that problem. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

I've noticed this same thing since eating healthier and exercising. It can be a bit frustrating to be awake at 3:30am on a Sunday morning. I have had other things going on at the same time, but usually when I'm stressed I tend to sleep even more...so I'm not sure why I keep waking up a couple hours earlier than my normal time.

rillington , atkins tells you to drinking caffiene helps burn fat , but dont do it after 2pm. Its stays in your system for 10 hours. I personally cant sleep bc my fiance is european and stays up late no matter what, lol. I take melatonin , it was my dr's advice. Otherwise i would wake up thru put out the nite.

I'm chiming in a couple days late on this topic. I've been on Atkins for a couple of months now and started waking up at 5:30 early on, now it's 4:30ish. At first, I tried to stay in bed and go back to sleep, but now I just go with it. I've been taking cod liver oil and thought maybe the omegas were "feeding" my brain better. (They certainly have improved my mood. Who knew?) One thing for sure is I am not the night owl any more. My bedtime used to be one, now it's ten. So in reality I am getting the same amount in hours of sleep, just adjusted. There definitely is an early bird effect in play.

During my first week on Atkins I had insomnia BAD. After a while it went away, thank goodness. I'm not sure if my body was just in shock, or what!

Hi there, If your blood sugars are low, this will cause insomnia. Eat a bit of protein before you go to bed or if you wake up and that will help you sleep better.
