I was here a couple of years ago, but I wasn't serious about my dieting and fitness. I have to be now, because of health issues. I need to lose 35 lbs. in the next two months, so I'm going to need lots of support.

That's an awful lot of weight to lose in a 2 month period, especially given you have health issues. Most doctors would say it's not a healthy rate of weight loss. Who gave you that deadline?

I agree with eKatherine.. 35lbs in 2 months does seem like a lot.
I'm no expert on any of this, but I would seek a second opinion.

Ridiculous, especially since you are only starting at 160 lbs. Why set your self up for failure? What's the rush? If you take your time and learn how to manage your weight, you will be able to keep it off. If you follow some fad and lose the weight quickly, you will not learn how to keep the weight off and will likely gain it back. Eat less, move more... Count your calories, lift weights, do cardio. Eat more veggies, less processed foods, less junk, more water. You can expect to lose more the first week or two, but after that you will probably not lose more than 1-2 lbs at your current size. You can expect for it to take more like 9 months to lose that weight. Sorry to be a downer, but losing weight should not be a sprint, more of a marathon.

I know it's a lot, but my daughter is getting married. I've lost 10, and need to lose at least 35 more. I'll work on the backlash from it after the wedding. I realize that sounds crazy but I've seen worse challenges around here!

Actually, I just want to get into a size 8, and the last time I was in one, I was 125, but I wasn't in very good shape. Maybe if I work out a lot, I can tighten up and not have to lose so much.

I already eat TONS of veggies and fruit -- mostly raw. Hardly eat meat at all. I just have a very sedentary lifestyle, so my main goal is to get fit, not really to lose weight. The weight will melt off once I get into an fitness routine. Right now, I'm just walking and doing some band exercises, but I intend to crank it up. Just don't want to push too hard and get sore, then not be able to exercise for awhile.

NCNOLE, calling someone ridiculous isn't a very good first impression, btw. I don't need to be put down. I do that to myself enough. And "only" 160 is huge for me, since I grew up very skinny all my life and only put on this weight during some health issues and depression that went with them.

The "worse challenges" you have seen are not realistic. I was part of a challenge where the person who started the challenge wanted to lose 60 pounds or so in 3 months. That person never weighed in once during the challenge.

Some challenges are even pro-ana, ridiculously unhealthy and unsafe diets for and by anorexics who care more about losing every last gram of fat than their health.

Right now I'm on a "lose 12 pounds for Christmas" challenge. Not a single person is going to come close to achieving that.

I want to be a size 8, too. I have lost 46 pounds since the end of May. I am currently a size 12, and estimate it will take me another 3 months to get to an 8.

I ordered some calipers so my boyfriend and I can measure each other's body fat, because that's a more sensible way to set a goal.

But you know something? People have been telling me how "hot" I was since I've been a 16, and you would be a "hot" size 16 or 14 or 12, too. They sell great clothes at that size.

This scientifically researched book is written for people who are going to go on a crash diet no matter what. It is a protein-sparing fast with exercise that should help you cause as little damage as physically possible in the process.

I'm not going on a crash diet. I'm eating between 1200 and 1500 calories a day, drinking 10 glases of water (half my body weight) and exercising. I just have a goal. If I don't reach it, I don't reach it, but don't tell me it's impossible to eat healthy and still reach that goal, because I don't believe in impossibilities.

Honestly, a size 8 would be great, but I'd settle for a size 10 without a fat belly that sticks out. I really want to concentrate on getting in shape more than losing weight, although of course, I want to lose weight too.
