I am following weight watchers meal plan, but have never actually been a memeber. I am curious if it makes any difference if I calculate my points for each individual food item I eat, or if I calculate them as a daily total. WIll I come out with the same point value either way?

I would do it on an individual basis. There are foods that if you eat two servings at one sitting it would be more points than if you eat two servings at two different times during the day. For example, if you eat two servings of something that is 4 points for one serving (10g fat/9g carb/1g fiber/10g protein) in one sitting, it would count as 9 points, not 8, based on the TOTAL fat/carb/fiber/protein you consumed at that time. If you ate a serving at different times of the day, it would count as 4 points each time.

Does that make sense?

Yes, and thank you! I have been doing it daily, and although Im losing and still feeling full, I just wondered what was the "proper" way of doing it. Maybe I will get a few more points this way!! Smile

If it's working for you this way, I'd stick with it and then when it stops working, try the other way. Wink

I follow the old points system, not points plus which was very confusing for me (I have a very busy day and simplify things whenever I can). Download the free app "Diet Points Calculator" to your phone....wonderful tool! This app nor this site here should not replace you writing all your points on paper. If you physically write it you own it! As for when you eat this or that or what plan is best for you.....the diet plan that works is the best one for you. I lost my 30 pounds and the most important piece of advice I can give you is to write it. You can put it in your computer or on your phone and it can be forgotten.....but if you always have your journal on the kitchen counter or on your person, it's always in your face.
This is for life!
