Cake!! Are you kidding me?

I know I don't need it and shouldn't eat it, I've got my afternoon food planned out, but I'm ready to chuck it and eat CAKE!!! I'm hoping that getting my thoughts out here will be enough to overcome that craving. The cake is not for me, so it's not like I'm obligated to eat it, and I'll be having cake this weekend at my son's b-day party. Okay, I just need to be strong. I can do this. I hope.... Confused

Sign up & complete a 5K- Done
Get a bike and use it!

Lol I feel that way when I worked... We had cake from so many ceremonies.... I'm not a cake person but when you watch what you eat... Things get real quick lol.

Something that helps me to resist is, when I'm thinking about cheating, I will put it into my food diary. This helps me see just how much giving in to temptation will cost me. Especially if it will blow my calories for the day, and I wouldn't be able to eat anything else!
Granted this doesn't always work, but...sometimes. Just a thought! Smile

Pretend that someone sneezed all over that cake. There are now boogers and germs just climbing all over it... YUCK!!!

If that doesn't work, umm... the person that made the cake was picking their nose the whole time and also didn't wash their hands after using the bathroom. THERE! Now don't eat it because it's super gross. Smile

I used to get people trying to pressure me to eat cake even when they knew I can't eat wheat.

Yes she is right...temptation is every where. That is where you learn control. Example for me just this last Monday. My co workers all got McD's. I was tempted to go too but like you I had my day planned with my food to eat. I am so glad that I didn't, I kept reminding myself I will get sick with the grease and didn't want that. Of course, to top it off they brought it back and ate it..the smell was enough for me...needless to say I passed that test Smile

Honestly, the big deal for me is that if I give in to a piece of cake then I'll eat other junk because I had a piece of cake. I know I could rearrange my calories for the day and be okay, but yesterday wasn't the day to give in to a piece of cake because I know it wouldn't have stopped there, I was stressed. I didn't give in, I did resist the cake and was happy that I did. I'm having cake this weekend for my son's b-day and I'm not going to feel bad about it, but I don't think that it is something I should make a more than once a week treat. I have a horrible binge eating mindset and once I start eating junk sometimes I can't stop, so for me the win is to not eat the piece of cake. I've been eating too much cake and other junk lately that's why I'm gaining, not losing. I wish I had the willpower to just get more exercise in or rearrange my calories for the day, and I'm working on it. Thanks for the posts on this, I read them when I wanted to give in and eat the cake, and they helped!

For me when people bring in donuts to work I resist them by drinking a whole bunch of hot water, it fills me up even though it doesn't taste like cake or a donut... The water acts as a filler so the cravings go away even though the temptation of sugary food is still lingering.

Yeah, people who have issues with things like stress eating or disordered eating in general may have to go cold turkey on stuff like that. Glad you pulled through!

A very common weak point for me, and I am sure almost everyone. No one wants to hear, "oh, no thank you." It's like you aren't really happy to be celebrating the guys Birthday. Have a sliver only, and no one will notice. Peer pressure busts diets all the time. you can do it!

My approach is to ask myself if it is good enough to give up other food in my plan. I probably would not do it for a grocery store bought cake but may for one from my favorite bakery. For me, it has to be the absolute "best" cake ever for it to be worth the indulgence - and most don't clear that hurdle! And it works for ice cream too!
