I have been doing atkins for a little over a year. I have held on to the last 15 pounds for awhile now. The friend who introduced me to the atkins way, is now advising me to carb cycle. I am trying to find info online about this, but would rather hear some true stories and info you guys may have.

Every diet that I've had success with in the past has involved carb cycling to some degree, CKD, TKD, Leangains. I would highly recommend CKD if you can handle the workout load, TKD if you want a lighter work load, and Leangains if you're sub 25% female or 15% male.

Carb cycling does work. It will help create balance if you are having a hard time with atkins. Typically on days you work out you will want to have higher carbs and lower fats, or days you do not work out you will want to have lower carbs and higher fats, all while staying in that days calories. Here is a calculator you can use. a 25/75-75/25 breakdown should work.

Depending on how much protein you want to take in, usually its one gram per your weight, but you can bring that down if you need to.

Kanan123, So, you should have 25%carbs/75%fat on low days, then 75% carbs/25% fat on high days? Sorry, just want to make sure I am doing this right. Then you eat your weight in protein on all the days?

Yes that is correct. If you use the calculator it will show you the calories that you will need to consume on non workout days and on workout days depending on your goal.

I also want to mention that fats should be unsaturated fats. The type that comes from nuts, avocados, and olive oil. Some saturated fat is fine, but try not to make it your majority. If you are having a hard time on low carb days, try Intermittet fasting. Basically fast for 16 hours a day. It's easiest when you only eat between the hours of 12 and 8. But feel freevto do 10 to 8 since women tend to get cranky when fasting lol

Yes, my boyfriend also is a body builder so I learn a lot from him training me and teaching me about the body. I am working on recomposition of my body. I'm not looking to lose any weight just lose body fat but gain muscle. You will see results if you really track your calories and realize what has carbs. Turkey rolls are great for low carb days, edamame is great for high carb days for example. It will allow you to not feel so deprived.

Adding to what thinner said.... the grilled chicken is a blessing. I've taken to marinating boneless breasts overnight then give them a quick cook in a skillet or griddle. I too worked in a school ...

Craving
Well good luck with those challenges. There must be a good reason you feel you can't have just one of the carb, lower calorie beers. I admire your discipline and determination.

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Even though fat doesn't count in Atkins, it can cause you to gain or not lose weight if you consume too much. Be careful of over eating this nutrient. ie: cream, cream cheese.
