Stinkin' Thinkin'
Jetgemini, would you take a quick peak at my post today. I am free from alcohol for nineteen years but still have trouble with overeating for the wrong reasons. Any suggestions?? I am a Gemini, May 22. I am guessing you are too. It's "Just a little taste of each item" for me.

Weekend Spikes in Chart
Seems like there is always something going on during the weekend that involves food. Lately my son's college baseball team parents have been putting out buffet spreads for things like Senior day, family day, and tailgating before and after playoff game. My biggest emotional, mental, self control, discipline issue centers on two things; I seem to want to get a taste of every item, and I have this people pleasing thing that lends itself to being polite and trying everyone's food and contributing to finishing it. My dad always preached to finish everything on your plate because people are starving in Africa. Any suggestions??

help
I agree, it does take some knd of committment. Putting in these numbers just in itself is a great motivating tool. At least start with the weigh in every day.

"I'm back" said Arnold
Just retired and attempting a committment to fun exercise and reasonable eating habits. Twenty years of temporary fixes have gone nowhere. Perhaps they at least kept the weight gain limited. I can do this if I break it down to one day at a time.

Jicama (Interior color)
Over the last 8 weeks I have cut open and julieened at least 3 jicamas. All were close to white inside. They make great snacks. They do taste earthy. The last one was streaked with brown. It almost looked like the earth it grew in was mixed into the interior. I am not sure if this was normal coloring or perhaps some kind of over ripeness. I ate a few pieces and they tasted about the same and I didn't get sick. Any feed back???? Wayne

Atkins - Just moving from Induction to OWL, anyone else doing the same??
I need 2 more weeks of Induction, then I will be joining you. Big stall for me, and I think it has something to do with these snack bars. Cut them out today.

What is the difference between summer squash, green squash, and zuchinni?
Can someone help me with an answer here? I am bright enough to know yellow squash is a different color. Is zuchinni the same as green squash?

Why I'm not losing and what's the deal with Net Carbs and Sugar Alcohols??
Tried today without low carb bar, let's see how that works. Also actually went to coffee, black, today with only half of packet Splenda. Found out how much those splenda and half and half carbs added up with help of this food input site. It sure is enlightening. At MacDonalds I ask them to put a couple of ice cubes in my coffee in place of the half and half. Their coffee is so hot anyway.

Ruby See the Topic I just added too. When I use fatsecrets numbers on my food intske , the sugar alcohols aren't subtracting. I believe Atkins let's us subtract those.

What do you have to be thankful for in life
Today, I'm thankful for having a good grip on conscious eating. Yesterday, I had allowed myself 3000 calories, and it was my Indulgence Day and I'm on vacation, but ended up having only had 1100 ...

weigh in
Good luck! I weigh in every day which has to stop. It is too easy to get caught up in the excitement of seeing the scale drop so much in a week-that is because of water weight I am sure.

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
You can use shakes for a few days. I have used the Atkins shakes and they are very good tasting. Soups are good though as stated above you may have to puree them. You could puree or blend cottage cheese ...

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
many say not to weigh everyday but I seem to anyway. Keeps me focused and on track. just realize that when you do your body weight does vary a bit. Don't get worked up over it.
