One week on Atkins and I'm looking for a diet buddy
Hi guys, we have a group named 'low carb daily check in' we are all low carvers most on Atkins, we are a very active group, with many posts daily, and we are all making new friends, the group is very supportive with lots of people that are new to L Carbing and lots of experienced ppl too. On an Atkins way of eating, pork rinds and bacon are fine, Atkins counts net carbs, not calories. Fat is a big part of the diet, low fat and Atkins does do work. Try not to eat manufactured food, stick to real food as much as possible. For a treat diet jelly and cream, I like to make up a jelly and add cream cheese while still warm, blend well and pop in the fridge to set. Yummy desert at only 1.7g net carbs per serve (depending on the cream cheese you use) I use 2 little sachets of jelly crystals - which normally makes 1 ltr (1000mls) I only use about 700 mls boiling water, and a 250g pack of full fat cream cheese. = 5 serves. Some ppl reduce the water a little more and add some cream too.

It Happened!
Atkins is a very healthy way of eating, lots of salad and veges, berries nuts seeds good amounts of protein, a natural diet - no additives. I know in induction fruit is a no no- except those fruits that are vege fruits like tomatos avocados etc, but personally I think after a week or so a couple of strawberries or blueberries would not do anything to take you out of ketosis- and I do mean a couple meaning 2 LOL - enjoy, but if you get cravings for more, hold off on them for a while. Induction is for getting rid of those cravings and getting you into fat burning mode-ketosis.

Transitioning from Atkins to Weight Watchers, Please help!
I got to my goal weight a few years ago on Atkins, since then I have gained most back, I have tried various diets including WW but don't stick to them as I am always craving food. On Atkins I don't crave at all, sometimes I have to remind myself to eat! Good luck with your journey! Linda

blow out
:oops: ok had a blow out, crazy day, went to the Harry Potter Exhibition in Sydney, FANTASTIC! Ate a good fast, but the restaurant we went to for lunch had NOTHING low carb, ended up blowing out the day. Back on board this morning with bacon /eggs/ and bit of mushroom, lunch will be a chicken salad, dinner is lamb shanks out of the Atkins book, with veges!

I just started the Adkins diet and I have a screaming headache. Is that normal??
Very normal, drink lot's of water, chicken or beef broth for the sodium is recomended, it's just your body adjusting to fat burning mode:) I sucumbed to panadol, quick fix, it worked well. Just don't give up, you will feel better soon.

How Do You Avoid Cheating?
I have tried many 'diets' I tend to get on the band waggon and I'm very strict at recording and doing everything right, probably too strict at times, because when I do 'cheat' I tend to think... that's it then, blown it, then think ah well enjoy the rest of the week and start again on Monday.... visious circle. BUT I've found with Atkins I can stick to it, because if I'm tempted to cheat (wine) I know my body will take a few days to start fat burning again. I have lost alot of weight on this diet, it works for me because I lose all my hunger and cravings. I do occasionally have a glass of wine but I'm not tempted to drink a whole bottle! Tip for not cheating, don't miss meals, always have food planned, carry a safe snack with you. Linda
