My name is sharon and I live in indiana, on the ohio border outside Cincinnati. My screen name is a combo of my first name and first husbaands last name and I never changed it. When I signed up here I didn't get that this was the name I'd be stuck with......Oh as ever I am representing the ugly american by not including the country , which is the usa....but it might be fun to put down I am from Indiana, Bahamas.

Trip to Vegas
yeah -we can work out a weekend- that's for the husbands teaching schedule but if it starts looking like people are coming without their mates, I'm game for anything and I can make it during the week.

I'd love info on that- for me it needs to be on a weekend and I would come with my hubby. I've never been to vegas- I think it would be a blast...please keep me in the loop, and I hope I can work out the details.

Summer B.E.A.C.H. Challenge!
As always the eating thing is easier for me than the exercising thing. I eat chinese all the time so this was a tough one but I found something, roast pork in a black bean sauce I asked for it to be diet friendly and had them add broccoli. All very delicious and no rice of course. I am still in search of uneven bars for the mini challenge. I hope everyone is laughing, I am not sure I could hold myself up on them for 30 seconds...this is tough- I'll post soon when I think of something.

Summer B.E.A.C.H. Challenge!
As usual my computer skills are lacking -my info is in the article ahead with explanation on the bottom of the article. I tried to swap the places and couldn't. I may live to be 140 but I can't use my lousy computer. Exercise and Menopause Exercise is extremely important throughout a woman's lifetime and particularly as she gets older. Regular exercise benefits the heart and bones, helps regulate weight, and contributes to a sense of overall well-being and improvement in mood. If you are physically inactive you are far more prone to coronary heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Sedentary women may also suffer more from chronic back pain, stiffness, insomnia, and irregularity. They often have poor circulation, weak muscles, shortness of breath, and loss of bone mass. Depression can also be a problem. Women who regularly walk, jog, swim, bike, dance, or perform some other aerobic activity can more easily circumvent these problems and also achieve higher HDL cholesterol levels. Studies show that women performing aerobic activity or muscle-strength training reduced mortality from CVD and cancer. Just like muscles, bones adhere to the "use it or lose it" rule; they diminish in size and strength with disuse. It has been known for more than 100 years that weight-bearing exercise (walking, running) will help increase bone mass. Exercise stimulates the cells responsible for generating new bone to work overtime. In the past 20 years, studies have shown that bone tissue lost from lack of use can be rebuilt with weight-bearing activity. Studies of athletes show they have greater bone mass compared to nonathletes at the sites related to their sport. In postmenopausal women, moderate exercise preserves bone mass in the spine, helping reduce the risk of fractures. Exercise is also thought to have a positive effect on mood. During exercise, hormones called endorphins are released in the brain. They are "feel good" hormones involved in the body's positive response to stress. The mood-heightening effect can last for several hours, according to some endocrinologists. Consult your doctor before starting a rigorous exercise program. He or she will help you decide which types of exercises are best for you. An exercise program should start slowly and build up to more strenuous activities. Women who already have osteoporosis of the spine should be careful about exercise that jolts or puts weight on the back, as it could cause a fracture. I spent a long time researching the i.nfo The topic is very intersting and I have posted an article that gave the simplest info to follow. My topic is menopause- which I'm terrified of and the effects of exercise which I dread. I know it's supposed to help the symptoms of menopause. I've been fearful of the moodswings and the weight gain, moodiness, depression, and lack of sexual interst I've heard and read about. I haven't experienced any of these things yet but fear it coming.

My favorite summer side Roasted Eggplant 1 large eggplant 3 cloves garlic 1 tsp extra-virgin olive oil 1/2 tsp sea salt 1/2 tsp pepper 1 jar diced red roasted peppers 1 jar drained artichoke hearts wash eggplant poke with fork thru skin in all sides- place in 350 degree oven for approx 30 minutes. let cool-remove skin. place all ingredients in food processor and blend well. serve with cut veggies on side and use as dip, also can be a great side instead of potatoes with grilled chicken. enjoy

BLUE LAGOONIE LOONIES: SUMMER B.E.A.C.H. CHALLENGE
doing well here. walked last night even though it was fiercely hot and that alone is completely because of this challenge. making good food choices..love to watch the scale inching down. I am not sure what a 5 will be for me- I almost feel like I'd have to be an olypian to earn a 5 and that's not right. I shouldn't set the bar so high. Anyway ...that's for the great challenge buddies. i think of you all the time and it really motivates.

BLUE LAGOONIE LOONIES: SUMMER B.E.A.C.H. CHALLENGE
Good Morning team. Thank you so much for the welcome. On the main post I gave my description of my BEACH plan. The whole dieting process for me is the combination of mental and physical. So my approach to BEACH has an exercise component and a thinking component. I am giving myself points for exercise and for healthy thinking about food. For example I have my husbands leftover birthday carrot cake on my counter and can you hear the excuses to do the wrong thing??? it's carrots, it's his birthday, it's only once a year, you'll exercise later and work it off, it's only a skinny piece, tomorrow is another day....blah blah,blah....I am very good at justifying bad choices- so this morning I looked at the carrotcake and said- you aren't healthy, you won't help me achieve my goals, and you aren't worth it. i made a healthy breakfast and the day is off on a good foot. I love accountablility The scale was my frend this morning. I am going to lose every ounce I gained and achieve my goal weight- GO BLUE LOONIES!!!!!

Summer B.E.A.C.H. Challenge!
This is the perfect challenge for me. I have spent weeks making excuses this summer-my chart tells the story sadly-I have had three huge vacations and really the issue of the excuses I make is ablout a lifelong relationship with food. My banned excuse: I will not eat certain, fatty, sugary, carb laden foods and tell myself they will enhance the moment, eating a 1000 calorie meal does not make and evening more special it makes my behind bigger- and that's all. Food does not equal love, food does not equal more special my changed habits: I will listen to the good strong inner voice I have and make the wiser better chice. My body will thank me and that is really loving myself also I am the queen of excuses around exercise- it's raining, it's hot, I'm tired....... I've just been lazy!!! I purpose to spend the next 4 weeks without excuses exercising everyday!!!!EVERYDAY- I will do something, and recording it and my food in the journal. The more accountable I am the more likely I am to succeed I am very excited about the challenge. I really needed a kickstart.

WEEK 6 CHALLENGE
This is the easiest challenge of all. I have learned so much and am so profoundly grateful for everyone who takes the time to read and write and care. I too am ready to move into the fatsecret commune. I wish my buddies were close by and we could walk and talk and parent each other's kids. I love you all. I started being serious with myself and dieting in January and the challenges have made a huge difference for me. I know that if I hadn't had the accountablility with my partner I would have gained much more weight. Knowing someone else sees and cares if I walk, what I eat, how my days go makes all the difference in the world. I say things here my friends here at home don't know. I love that caged liberty stepped up and started this challenge right when I needed it. ALthough no one ever saw my visual board that was a fabulous exercise for me to work through. I realized my goals were not all about numbers- even now I am ok with putting aside some of the push to lose, lose ,lose, on the scale because I see I am doing other things to shape the whole picture-it's not all about the scale. I needed to explore how I interfere with the peace of my life and I really needed to look at the benefits of positivity on my everyday. I have learned so much!!!!!. I know I've said it before but the thanks are so small compared to the time that CL has put to this project which I feel was just for me- so thank you again my buddy for everything. When this challenge ends you are in no way off the hook- you are my personal buddy forever and I will keep close tabs on you. Having one somebody to report to has made the journey very personal. This challenge has been amazing

I love my Wii fit. It's been a big help for me. And, if you have kids, they will love it too. Mine play it all the time and it's great way to keep THEIR activity up during the winter months.

Errr, you are on the website now? Do you mean the info you submitted on the (stolen) phone? Unless the application on the phone and the web account were synched, then I don't think you can.

Veggies, veggies and more veggies. The more I eat the more I lose! I've been making lots of soup with lots of veggies and ground turkey or cubed cooked chicken.
