The ads are a reflection of your internet search history/cookies. I have a headsets ad and protein powder ad because that is what I have recently searched for. Makes one wonder what has been searched for recently on your computer, Classic! HA! Mummydee-I had that nasty one too! Ewwwwww! I just logged off so I would stop seeing it.

Need some lunch ideas PLEASE!
Tortilla wraps or pita bread that is whole grain or low carb, you can even use just a large lettuce leaf. Go for themes-greek, buffalo chicken, Curried Chicken Salad with Apples and Raisins, etc to "spice" things up. How about a couple of cold slices of veggie/chicken pizza? You can make a healthier crust. Pouches of (waterless) tuna. Some are even flavored. Open pouch, eat with plastic fork. Tupperware of hummus with pita or crackers, veggies. Boiled eggs. It's a good thing you put the kids first. They need someone to do that. However, keeping yourself happy and healthy is important too!

Coconut oil-Atkins forum
Alexzwk, I've never taken the pills, so I wouldn't know about that. But I use the "oil" (really is a solid like vegetable shortening) in my morning coffee and the suggestions above to help boost my healthy fat consumption. I feel it jump starts my metabolism in the morning and helps my overall fat percentage for the day. I feel it takes fat to loose fat. Though I have to be careful because DH is actually allergic to coconut so I don't put it in anything communal. If you Google it you will get a lot of the benefits (skin, hair, etc)

Joehi-that's what I thought the first time I bought a jar. I really enjoy it with out the coconut flavor. Onedaat-that's the one I bought this time. I'll have to go back out buy a different one. Bbody1972-I find them all pricey! Thanks for the help everyone.

I finally finished my first jar of coconut oil and bought a new one. But this one actually tastes like coconut (which I don't like). My first jar didn't. It didn't have any flavor, just yummy goodness. What did I buy wrong? I threw away the old jar so I can't compare. Second question. I use this in my morning coffee and to fry the occasional egg. What do you use this healthy fat for/in?

Swollen ankles???
Tamaralynn, I swear by the diabetic socks. Its constant pressure really helps me. They are knee high so not appropriate for all fashion. I found my at Rite Aid. Black and white pairs. I agree with all your solutions but this helps until the swelling subsides. I don't sleep in them though.

Yes I get this. The main reasons tend to be sodium intake, lack of water, and hormones. I see from your food log that most days you are over 3000 and somethimes up to 5000mg in sodium. "They" recommend not going over 2500. Water flushes the sodium and fat from your system. Drink Drink Drink. I swell right before my period. Always have, but now seems to settle in my ankles more that before. Don't discount riocaz's comment. If you haven't been tested for diabetes lately, get tested. Better safe than sorry. I've been tested often (mostly because my Dr. can't believe I'm this weight and NOT diabetic). I wear diabetic socks on the bad days. It eases my discomfort.

My love of beer is partly why I'm here. I'm now in a low-carb lifestyle and ironically, now find that any beer (even those nasty low carb ones) will stall my loss for the day and leave me bloated and gassy the next day. However, vodka and whiskey don't affect me at all. I think for most people, as long as you factor in the calories to your daily RDI and watch your sugary mixers you should be good. However, some people may be hypersensitive to it. If someone is in a stall, cutting out the alcohol to see the effect would be smart.

Leg cramps!
I have had these really bad-wake me up from a deep sleep. also cramps in my hands and diaphram. I don't excersize so it's not that. I started taking an OTC potasium pill everyday and switched to a multi-vitamin with calcium and I haven't had them since. Every once in a while I'll foreget for a few days in a row and I can feel them building back up. Very painfull.

Crunchy Foods
pork rinds (Chicharones), flax seed crackers, nuts-especially almonds, oven baked zuchini slices/chips, they do sell low carb chips online-however I've never tried them. I use a recipe for cheese chips I found online at "Peace, Love, and Low Carb": 2 Cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese - Shredded 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese 1 Tsp Cumin 1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder 1/4 Tsp Chili Powder Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray. (It shouldn't stick to the paper anyway but I always give it light spraying. Pour the cheddar cheese onto the parchment paper and spread out as thin as you can. (In the shape of a rectangle.) Sprinkle the grated Parmesan evenly on top of the cheddar cheese. Combine the Cumin, Garlic powder, and Chili powder and sprinkle evenly on top of the cheeses) Bake on 400* on the middle rack for 8-10 minutes. Check on it constantly as it can go from zero to burnt in no time at all. Set cookie sheet on a cooling rack and let cool for 10 minutes.

weight loss
I grab a bar and a string cheese for breakfast (I eat in the car on way to work). I keep a drawer full of Atkins worthy snacks: 100 cal pack cinnamon coated almonds, Sugar Free chocolate pudding, beef jerky (gotta search hard to find a LC one), and in the fridge I have babybel cheese and sausage bites. I always go out for lunch to escape my desk-doesn't sound like that's possible for you. Pre-pack snack sized ziplock baggies in a basket in the fridge with sandwich meats, cheeses, celary w/ peanut butter cups, and grab and go in the morning. Your body is in starvation mode and will not release the fat unless you eat. Drink tons of water too! Gotta flush that fat out!

I just can't get into eating the morning
Yes, Nice one Dicesr! I've never been a breakfast eater for 20+ years. Used to get up at 7:00 and sometimes not eat until nausiated around 12:00-1:00. My "I'm hungry" trigger was missing. I've known I "should" eat, nag, nag, nag! Well, I'm sorry to say that in my case they are correct. I simply don't loose weight unless I kick start my metabolism by eating within 1 hour of waking. Even if it's just a cheese stick. Everybody has to decide/figure out what works for them.

Well, FS doesn't remove sugar Alcohols. I've asked them to add that feature and it will be in the future but it won't be for quite a while they said. Most people who enter the bars compensate by lowering the original carb count and notating it in the notes section. But yes, if you set to net carbs, the fiber is removed from the carb count.

leg cramps!
I have had horrible leg cramps (also my hands and diaphram) that woke me up from a dead sleep. I've been taking potasium suppliment and the cramps have disappeared.

SHORT ON FAT....help please
Ha! TOFU, I asked the same thing a few months ago (even the threat to eat butter-yuk)-my protien and carb numbers were good but needed to add more healthy fats. I was told about the miricle of Coconut oil! I add it to my fried eggs even though I use a non-stick pan and don't need it. Someone adds it to her morning coffee. Use it for pan frying chicken or low fat meats like turkey burgers or bison. You could also collect bacon grease and use it similarly but Coconut oil is tastless (I don't like coconut and I can't taste it), SUPER healthy for you (google health effects of coconut oil), and it's a solid so has a long shelf life (melts better than butter once it hits the pan). I have to be carefull- my DH is allergic to coconuts/palm so I have to be sure he won't be tasting my food, but it works. :)
