I miss Kate :(
She is missed. But the one thing I can say is that she did make the right choice since after losing, especially a large amount, the last thing you need to do is constantly be surrounded by the previous problem which is now resolved. At least shes not gone forever...and her blog is still up.

What's your proudest moment so far?
All of you all are inspiration. Hopefully one day I will have one of these....but right now my proudest moment is being able to say "enough" when I eat!

RDI ?
Yea, fat secret RDI is very high. To the point that if you used that number, you would probably gain weight unintentionally. I would google about your BMR and go from there with the activity you do and such. I know for me the number was way above 3000 on here and that would no doubt cause me to gain like 2 pounds a week, not lose. I'd almost believe just about everything on this site, except for that. :-)

No Carb
Like they say, you can do low carb but if you still eat over your BMR it would not matter because it all comes down to calories and how your body works no matter what diet you are on. Just because meats are usually low in carbs...I would not eat loags of beef or something because I would end up gaining weight from the calories and fat alone...

parking signs
I wonder if "Kindalikewool" has read these comments yet....I'd hide too. In reply: Those spots are great. I have yet to see them in my area but I could have truely used it when my son was a week late and all I wanted to do was yell. A spot next to the store would have been like ice cream on a day when all I hear, now, is "mommy mommy mommy mommy mommmy, etc etc".

Temptation and Kids
Although I do not have the same amount of kids, I can say I have one 2 year old toddler that probably does as much damage as all of them. If I counted how many time he says mommy a day it would probably be 100, and that is before and after work. I try to get on the computer and its "Pick up Quincy" (thats what he says)....there is NO me time. So I instantly want to revert back to my comfort foods like cheese, ice cream, just about anything to give me that feeling of utter bliss...ahhhhhh....just typing that almost made me slip up. Hang in there...for all the moms out there....just hang tight onto that last string of hair on your head...Don't pull it out....the kids will eventually fall asleep won't they?

My scale is stuck
Just keep moving forward. That gain will be behind you in no time as you start counting again. From what you mentioned it seems like the problem came in when you stopped counting calories. I tried that once and I am sure I took in way more than I thought I did. Otherwise, it probably is salt intake, pms, or any other way the body makes jokes on us.

How did you decide your ideal weight?
Just like K8yk I picked my number out of the blue. I know my healthy weight as they say is like 150, but I still want to be "thick" and have curves. Gotta keep my husband somehow. I don't want to be stick skinny, as I am sure I probably can't even be that small. I just want to be healthier so 180 would work nicely for me. My husband still says 200 but I think 180 will work.

Why do you want to lose weight?
1. To be able to stand for more than 20 minutes without looking for a chair. 2. So that my son won't also be big, as he is 2, or ask why mommy and daddy are bigger than everyone else. 3. To finally walk with my head held high knowing that I am HOT! watch me sizzle. ****Oh yea the sex thing too....

Medifast is Fast, easy and healthy.
I agree. I said that I do not condone spamming like that at all. Makes the overall company look bad...not to mention give a bad name to a good thing.

Medifast is Fast, easy and healthy.
I'm on Medifast and I do not agree with the "Spamming" at all. To reply to K8Yk, what happens is this program is a tool just like the rest, its up to the person to keep it off. They have a maintenance plan to ease you back to regular eating, not to mention that you eat a lean and green meal for dinner which helps you to already have a variety of dinners in you head. It is just really up to the individual and what they have learned throughout the plan. For someone like me who started at almost 400 pounds, it would take alot from me to keep the weight off, not medifast. So I have taken this time to learn more about foods and exercise rather than rely on Medifast to drop me down to my goal weigh with no knowledge. But Spamming is a serious no no.

Husbands are bad influences!
I thought I was the only one. Sad thing is that my husband is on this same journey with me and every now and so often, like yesterday, he says...hey I've already gone over my carbs.....so lets go get the 2 for $3 triple cheeseburger at Mcdonalds....WHHHHYYYY...as I am sure you can see I caved in...even though his going over had NOTHING to do with me.....but we are atleast getting better with supporting each other!

Secret to Success
My secret is loving myself as I go down knowing that the scale does not rule my life. My other secret is Doing a diet my own way...yes I am on Medifast, but on a Keturah version of Medifast. I eat more meat than the diet calls for and I may even add more condiments and stuff but as long as I am logging my food and not going over my carbs and not eating 3000 to 4000 cals a day I think I have had one heck of a day. My last secret is finding alternatives to the things I like. I will eat 1/3 less fat cream cheese over regular anyday. Equal is my best friend. I love to cook and make interesting meals to try to see if I can make the lower calories and carb items taste just like the original and when I win...I WIN! The very last secret (i know I know) is SEAFOOD! I swear eating seafood for dinner makes you drop a pound the next day....ok maybe not....but its so HIGH in protein and LOW in fat that you can't help to feel stuff while lose tremendous amounts of weight.

Regain Your Power Over the Scale
I still am scale crazy...as in I weigh myself practically everyday just to see it go down. I have had my bad moments where I went up and almost freaked out, but overall I know that its the one a week on Friday that I really log and deal with. Nice article!
Read this: http://www.fatsecret.com/Commu... And, don't worry. And, don't stop exercising because you're afraid of water weight gain! Listen, I'm pretty p*ssed at my scale at the moment, too. But, that's all it is...scale angst!
I love the disclaimer.... Water Weight Gain while menstuating is a guarantee most of the time...as with all things: This too shall pass.

How to cut the sugar cravings!
I would have to agree that replacing the sugar things with things high in protein will help ALOT....I LOVE seafood for that simple fact. Most have no carbs (or low carbs) and are FRIGGIN PACKED with protein so you are stuffed and start to say "Sugar who?". On the other hand, if you are anything like me....you still like the thought of a nice strawberry, cherry, blueberry, (place fruit here) cheesecake. So, I have found that "redoing" the recipe and adding low carb items and sugar free items to make MY OWN cheesecake has helped me to get the feel that I am cheating and getting my sugar rush when I have not touched much sugar at all really....I have posted two different recipes for a GREAT cheesecake. Using splenda and no sugar items lower my sugar intake but the cheesecake tastes even better than I could have ever imagined!
