Tasty frozen dessert bites
I froze grapes just a week ago. Some were rolled in jello powder and lemonade to make them more like sour patch for my daughter.

Try not to eat less than 1200 calories a day for too long a period. If you do, you may end up sending your body into starvation mode. A few days at the lower will work...but then up the calories over 1200 for a day or two and then you can go back down. Just a bit of experience talking!

Hello Elise...Welcome... Glad you found us "older girls"! We are all here to help. Let us know if you have questions. Some have been on here longer than others. I find that it is harder to lose as you get older. I think it is because we tend to not be as active. I am hoping to change that for me this spring. Now that I have been down 50 lbs from where I started there are no more excuses (except for my separated shoulder that is).

I know that hot flashes come in varying degrees depending on the person. I can handle if it happens only at night and don't last long. I started sleeping in the nude just to be comfortable. Poor firemen if my house would ever burn at night...not a pretty picture!!! LOL

Thanks for the tip wholefoodnut. I am hoping that they do not get too bad. Since it is so cold here I was confused the first time that it happened...why was I sweating so much...but yet cold too? Thought I was getting sick and then remembered that I was 51 and that is what was happening. Gotta love getting older! Happy Birthday Odirish!

I am 51...and just starting with the hot flashes. Kind of nice when it is below 0 outside! Unfortunately it also wakes me up. I don't do well with little sleep. Can you other ladies tell me if this is normal?

I keep track on my food diary as well. I put the water on with every meal and if I drink more than that under snacks. Then you can look back and see how much you have consumed. That or count how many bottles you drink in a day.

Need help/advice on Atkins/Breastfeeding??
I would say that you will lose weight anyway while breastfeeding...so don't start a diet that you do not know how it will affect your breast milk supply. Usually your body will take what it needs while you are pregnant for the baby...same will apply when you are breastfeeding. I fed all three children I had with breastmilk to start. Don't be surprised that the sucking causes your uterus to contract. That is why it is the best way to lose that pregnancy weight without dieting. Your body is going to use all kinds of calories feeding that baby. Just make sure you are drinking enough water while you are feeding...especially if you still plan on dieting from the get go. I personally would wait at least three months before starting any dieting. See how you do with loss with the breastfeeding first. There is plenty of time to lose while your baby is growing.

Question about fatsecret
Go to your my fatsecret area. click the icon for entering your food. Then above that is blue writing where you have to click back to your diet calendar. The diet calendar gives you the net you are looking for. Let me know if you can't find it.

go to My fatsecret. So your personal profile. On the right there will be a toolbox. Check your settings in that toolbox. If you do not have your journal entries so that everybody can see them it will remain in your personal space only. I think there is an option for yourself and buddies only also if you just want buddies to see your journal. I have all my settings public because then it keeps me accountable. It allows you to personalize how much information you want out there for everyone to see. Does that make sense? The guru on this site is Kingkeld. He has lost a ton...journals every day (long journals) and is a wealth of information. He has so many buddies that he can't keep track of them all...but he does check in from time to time. I think he lives in Denmark? Somewhere over seas. Really interesting man. When you learn the site you will find it is really easy. Good Luck and let me know if you have other questions. Kathy

Click on the blue name by the comment of the person you want to add as a buddy. It will bring you to their page. Under their icon there should be send a buddy request or add to my buddies...something like that.

There are different ways that you can post on here. When you post on the forum...then the users that decide to go on the forum may see and reply to your post. I usually use this when I am looking for advice. There is a wealth of information on old forum posts. Check for old forum posts about things you may have questions on. Then there are your journal entries. These are your daily check in if you desire to journal daily. Some people do...some don't. I only journal when I feel the need...so it may be a while between journal posts for me. These journal posts are notified to your buddies if you have them. It helps your buddies keep track of you and if you are having problems or successes. There are challenges that you can join. These create mini groups within the cyber community. Then those in that same challenge may keep up with what you have going on. I know it can be confusing because there are so many ways to interact. I had my hubby on here first to guide me through the way to go. I have lots of buddies...but there is always room for more. Some come and go off the site. The more I have though the harder it is to keep track of everyone. I find that people gravitate to others in similar situations...it helps them connect and then the go through the journey together. Send me a buddy request if you want me to be your buddy. Also Beth Black being new to the site may be a good buddy then you can learn together.

I have found that putting my own recipes in the cookbook works the best. Choose to not share them and then when you want to use something from your cookbook you can go to the cookbook, choose it and add it to your food journal. Send me a message if you need further information.

Vegetable pasta
In order to cut the calories and starches Zucchini or Spaghetti squash is the best way to go... I bought a spiral gadget from Bed Bath and Beyond..it is awesome to make the zucchini spaghetti...and so ...

Heather 911... Try eating celery with cream cheese or peanut butter..the fat will keep you satiated...and you won't crave the sweets... Even cheese with green or red bell peppers..or even an Atkins ...

Mix feelings
You fell off the wagon, don't beat yourself up. Just get back on track, go for a walk. Plan your meals, maybe work on a backup plan for your next social event so you'll do better. Soldier on!
