treadmills vs outdoors
I personally think that walking outdoors is harder than walking on a treadmill.

What type of exercises can I do without leaving the house?
I know a lot of people like Leslie Sansone's walking tapes. You don't need a treadmill. It's done in a very little exercise space. Some tapes are: Walk Aerobics I(1 mile - 18 minutes), Walk Aerobics II, Walk Away the Pounds (1 mile - 18 minutes), Walk Away the Pounds (2 mile - 30 minutes), Walk Away the Pounds (3 mile - 47 minutes).

How are you handling Halloween candy night?
I like that idea of chewing gum so I will not be tempted to eat the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups. I just love to see the little kids come to the house all dressed up.

Break"FAST" suggestions, please....
Breakfast with no eggs ideas: Just some suggestions: cheese (almost any kind of low fat), ricotta, Cottage cheese. Ham, meat, deli cold cuts (low fat only), fish (tuna), soup, nutrition bar, Oatmeal, peanut butter with or without celery, protein drink, Atkins shake, Slim Fast, nuts (limit), V8 juice, left overs from last night’s dinner. If you can tolerate eggs, try making deviled eggs the night before and just grab it before leaving the house.

This might come as a surprise to a lot of people, but peanuts are not really nuts. They are legumes. So when you are eating peanuts, think of yourself as eating beans.

I was away for 5 days. But I'm back and stuck on column 1 day 1 week 3. I'm determined to stick with it. I'm beginning to see definition in my upper arms. I'll keep posting.

Fruit, ham or meat or fish (tuna), nutrition bar, Oatmeal, peanut butter with or without celery, protein drink, coffee & banana smoothie (or any kind of berry or pumpkin smoothie), Canned or cooked pumpkin (you can mix this with peanut butter), nuts, yogurt, & fruit parfait, V8 juice, left over from last night’s dinner. Of course, bread, muffin, fruit, oatmeal, fruited yogurt are discouraged in phase 1, but you can have them in phase 2. Or go to HOME page at bottom and click on food diaries and see what other FS members are eating. Then decide if it is allowed on your diet.

south beach diet failing when trying phase 1 for the third time?
It's very important to keep up your food journal. This way someone can come up with suggestions. Also, if you see yourself falling off track, you can go back to see what you were eating when you were doing well and go back to that menu. One more suggestion: Are you watching your carbs? IDIOT'S GUIDE TO GLYCEMIC INDEX WEIGHT LOSS: (PAGE 47) – Which follows South Beach Diet Guidelines Allow 30 grams of low-glycemic carbohydrates per meal and 10 to 30 grams of low-glycemic carbohydrates for snacks. Eat three meals and two to three snacks. Eat only low-glycemic carbohydrates. The total grams of carbohydrates for the entire day with meals and snacks should be less that 150 grams. Good Luck! The nutritional Calorie is 1000 standard calories. A kcal is a kilocalorie which is 1000 calories. So a nutritional Calorie is the same as a kcal.
