A question for Atkins and former Atkins dieters
I had to do a reality check too! Still do, on a daily basis. Keeping carbs in control really helps with keeping cravings out of my life. So, for me, keeping my carbs lower is key to keeping my calories in line in a manner I can happily live life with. I don't feel deprived, I feel full, I have lots of energy most days & totally enjoy food in a way I don't think I ever did before Atkins!

Why is it so difficult to stick with an exercise plan?
I so agree....quit thinking about it & DO IT, & be happy about it too! The more we think about it, the more likely we are to come up with ALL the reasons something else just HAS to get done! I like to do my excercise in the morning, so I get up early, (really early, about 4:30-4:45), I will admit that some mornings just getting up is the hardest part, but I am always glad I did & even happier that I got my excercise in!

Elliptical machine and calories burned
I think if I could stay on mine for that long it would give me about the same reading. The most I have ever done (Nordi Track power incline, sounds close to yours) is 45 min fat burner program for the whole body section & that got me around 750 calories or so...now that really kicked my butt & I was sore all over, (arms, legs & butt) the next day. I have always used the pre-programmed routines, helps keep me interested with really loud tunes (ear phones of course, my peeps got to sleep don't you know!) & a fan blowing on me!

Breakfast
Sorry, I can't help you...I struggle with that myself as I am NOT hungry in the morning, I am interested to learn also! This is really bad, I know, but I have been up for HOURS, went on a 2 mile run & Still NO breakfast. Usually by around 9:30-10 am I feel like I can eat, so I am going to go make my MIM & be happy about it. BTW, Excellent topic!

The Holidays are coming upon us FAST!
It is going to be hard to do! Saying no sooooo many times, it all just starts with trick or treat candy, then Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. I have been experimenting with recipes to find some that will work for my WOE. For myself, I know I don't expect to be perfect, but I don't want to eat off my plan. So, I need to keep the carbs LOW! There are so many recipes for pies, cakes, cookies, muffins & all that, I am sure I will find something suitable to endulge myself & family with!

what am I doing wrong?
I took a quick peek at your food, if that is all you are eating really, then I really suspect you are not eating anywhere near enough food! 1500-1800 calories & keep your carbs in line should get you success! Keep trying & Good Luck!

Life Without Bread
I can't even count the number of times I have yo-yo'd. In the beginning of each of those times I know I told myself that "This was it, this was absolutely THE LAST TIME". I am so tired of "dieting", I want to learn how to eat & be healthy for the rest of my life. I actually feel like finding Atkins was like getting a gift!

I made it back to the pool today & swam 48 laps! I have even been remembering to break up my meals & eat smaller portions more frequently throughout the day.

Today's Motivation!
My next goat is 140 something, anything! Getting there is just like you said, but for me, eating smaller quantities throughout the day is my goal. Plus finding a low impact activity till I get back to the foot doctor. My reward for minimum of 149.9 are guitar lessons.

Breakfast Ideas
I had the same question when I started Atkins. Breakfast was hardest for me. But now I cook ahead if I can, making scrambled eggs & what ever you like with them, stash in fridge & warm up in the morning. MIM's are great, you can make those ahead too, or last nights leftovers are quick & easy too. On Atkins breakfast can be from any meal!

last straw?
The last straw? I think I have a handfull too! Let's see, my foot hurt, my knee hurt, my hip hurt, my cholesterol was border line high, I hated how I looked, hated the clothes I was wearing & no matter what I tried, it didn't seem to work. I was feeling, oh, so very alone & ugly & frustrated. Plus, I was 50! The biggest factor really, was taking a good hard look at my mom, who at 350+ pounds was practically immobile & who has had one health related issue after another, all because of her weight. She didn't want to change, always had one excuse after another as to why she ate what she did, (never really her fault). I didn't want to end up like that, still don't!

Nervous to buy new clothes, can the weight loss stay off?
I am scared too! In all my previous weight losses, I tossed all my fat clothes (as in gave them away), & purchased new clothes. This time I am keeping only the cream of the crop so to speak, as for me, it is very motivating to see the huge pile grow even bigger as still more pounds come off. Now, I am fitting into my old skinny clothes & some of those are actually too big now also! I like being able to "see" my success in those piles of old, too big, clothes. The other day when I was adding more clothes to the fat pile, I was thinking what tremendous changes my bras have gone through! The quadruple hook 40D is the largest (& those were darn tight), then triple hook 38C, now in double hook 36B, heading for a 34 something! I was thinking the other day I should hang one of each size on the wall or something!

Need suggestions on healthy/low-calorie foods.
I'm reading this while eating some absolutely delightful fresh melon for breakfast. If the melon isn't soft enough on its own you could add it to a fruit smoothie.
