We latch on to a 'Buddy' or two or three...and cheer each other on! Typical posts include 'YOU CAN DO THIS!' and 'DON'T LET IT GET YOU DOWN!' It REALLY helps to have this support system... but you've gotta GIVE as much as you TAKE...[to make it work for you!] I wish you the best of luck!

I'm stuck at 190lbs
Thank you for your posting... I know this to be true, but was going against all logic yesterday, and 'blew' the whole day! This week [starting today] will be different... I feel lousy after my day with no restraints, [emotionally AND physically!] NEVER AGAIN!! Thanks!

Do you post exactly what the scale says?
I weigh in once a week [same day, same time;] and I take a water pill the night before [regularly] This helps me know that my loss/gain is actually 'meat' [?fat/?muscle?] This helps me stay on my program/food plan, and it holds me very much accountable for my actions...

Inspirational quote
We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. E. M. Forster This is from the dianepetrella.com website. Her program is called 'Living Lightly' and she has an entirely NEW way to view the weight loss process... first of all, she doesn't call it 'losing weight', as that implies you want to find it again! She calls it 'releasing' your weight! The program is free and has a lot of head work and assignments involved, but is well worth your time and effort... it starts off with 7 weekly newsletters with the 'Secrets' of releasing your weight [taking you on a fulfilling mind journey that does everyone good!] Then she sends you a monthly newsletter with inspirational quotes [such as the one above] and various tips and anecdotes. You owe it to yourself to check it out!

I sent you a couple of lengthy replies to your messages, but now I can't find them, and want to make sure you got them; so please write me to let me know... Also, here are some words of wisdom from Tiffany on You Tube [check her and Lee Anne Locken Love out on You Tube!] they're awesome! Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become… habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny. What we think we become.” THIS WEEK I WILL…. 1. Let go of any self-defeating illusions of my life. 2. Keep on keepin’ on! 3. Not allow my past define me. 4. Refuse to stay stuck and move CONFIDENTLY toward my destiny. 5. Be grateful for my humble beginnings. 6. Believe in myself more than ever. 7. Be more mindful of my thoughts, words + actions. 8. Live the BIG life God intended for me. Screw a little life! 9. Stop getting in my own way. 10. Embrace my journey and stop comparing it to everyone else’s. 11. {WRITE YOUR OWN AFFIRMATION+ SHARE}

Tips for Eating Out All the Time
Have a portion of caramel mini rice cakes... they're only 10 calories a piece, and they're filling [because they're mostly air] and they satisfy the need to munch on something [sweet or otherwise...] Know what your "trigger foods" are i.e. those foods that are toxic for you... the ones that you can't stop eating once you start, and STAY AWAY FROM THEM AT ALL COSTS!!! As for eating out, become a person who can ask the server [waitress or waiter] how the dish is prepared, then ask them to have the cook make your dish to YOUR specifications. Don't be afraid to ask!!! It's their JOB to cater to the patrons!! And don't feel ashamed or scared to speak up!! The people you are eating with will respect you for it! Happy New Year! and GOOD LUCK ON YOUR ENDEAVORS!!

solo mission
Shellysue55, ET AL: YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!! There are SO many of us "losers" out here! Just keep your "eye on the prize" and take "baby steps" to reach your goal[s] whatever they may be!! I'm 2.5 lbs. BELOW my goal weight; and if I can do it, so can YOU! I've lost 90 lbs to get here, and I've had many set backs on the way... you lose some one week, and then you may have a bad week, and gain some, or you reach a plateau, but the important thing is to "get right back on track" IMMEDIATELY! Don't say to yourself, "well, I've already blown it for today, so I'll just go ahead and eat whatever I want for today - and start again TOMORROW! NO!! Don't do it! Figure the calories you've consumed, deduct it from that week's total, then get right back on your eating plan,[whatever that may be!] The point is... YOU ARE NOT ALONE!! This forum is a great place to vent and seek advice, and most of all... FIND SUPPORT!!! There's enough love to go around.... and I, too, will be your buddy, BECAUSE THE BUDDY SYSTEM WORKS!!! Take care, be healthy, and have the BEST NEW YEAR EVER!!! This could be the year that you reach your goal [or your sub-goal] remember, "baby steps" 5 lbs at a time is how you become a BIG LOSER!! LOVE AND PEACE TO ALL!!

How is Weight Watchers and where did my motivation go?
P.S. It DOES have a lot to do with your leader - we have a leader who sometimes takes up all the meeting time talking with and listening to members' stories/questions...She really makes it RELEVANT and she changes it up every week... Just "shop around until you find a good leader at a location near you... They even do meetings at work [if you have enough people to support it]. Anyway, it's a nutritionally sound, non-depriving food plan to follow. You can even utilize e-tools and do the whole program online!! There's nothing stopping you now!!! DO IT!!

How is Weight Watchers and where did my motivation go?
I, too, am a WeightWatchers' member! [lifetime] I lost 90 lbs about 3-4 years ago on this program, and "lost my way" and gained 20lbs back over the course of those 3-4 years, but I "returned to the fold" before it got way out of hand... and once again, I'm below my goal weight and a lifetime member [that means you don't have to pay for meetings/weigh-ins as long as you remain at least within 2 lbs (over) your goal weight]. But I MUST say THIS: the MEETINGS are the reason the program is so successful!!! Studies have shown that members who attend meetings regularly, lose three times as much weight as those who don't!! So TAKE THE PLUNGE AND JOIN a meeting near you! Losing weight IS an attainable goal! [and WeightWatchers is the road to get there!!]
