I must be very fluffy or something
I lose two whole sizes when I leave the trendy store and go into the old lady store because the old lady cuts are baggier. But some of the trendy clothes are cuter, so I'll just buy the bigger size and not worry about the number.

The Protein Myth
I ate a vegan plant-based diet for a month as part of a cleanse. When i looked up the nutrients and did the math, I was surprised to find out that TEN PERCENT of my calories were coming from protein. This was without beans or grains, just lots of leafy greens. How do cows get their protein? From grass! Keep eating spinach, kale, and Swiss chard. You'll get enough protein if you eat these regularly and cut out high calorie, low nutrient foods like bread.

Delicious but Odd Food Combinations
I combine some foods that my friends think are WEIRD, but that they're too scared to try. Post your odd snacks that you think deserve a try! -Buttermilk and Tomato Juice- mix half parts of each. It has the yummy tang of buttermilk but not too thick and not all the calories. -Pico de Gallo on Red Bell Peppers- cut the peppers into big triangle pieces and scoop up the pico. It's more refreshing than tortilla chips and salsa, and minuscule calories. You'll never switch back to Doritos! (Can you believe my coworkers won't try this one?)

7 NEW RULES for the Gym
I think a good rule for the gym is for the owner to not yell at you and tell you you're putting him "in a spot" when you tell him you lost your job and can't afford the membership anymore. That's what happened to me. It's just bad customer service, I think. lol.
After going through the new-member intake process, I decided against the membership and walked out before signing. The salesman got really mad and screamed after me (infront of the whole gym) "You're never going to meet your fitness goals! You can't do this on your own!" Talk about burning his bridges! Here's another rule for the gym owner: if your roof leaks, get it fixed. Don't just put a bucket out each time it rains... for FOUR MONTHS! Here's one I learned the hard way because I did it once: if you see a long-lost friend at the gym, don't give him a hug! (I was so happy to see him I forgot that we were both dripping with sweat-until it was too late). Yuck.

what did you control yourself from eating today that was sooo bad for you???
Fresh donuts at work. There was a lot of peer pressure from my coworkers, too! I had a cup of fresh orange juice instead, which satisfied my sweet tooth.

Portion sizes and small plate meals
The last post is a good one - if you wait a minute everyone else will eat it all or pick over it while you eat slowly. That's my plan when we have donuts at the office: if I wait til noon they're typically gone anyway. Sometimes I eat a big bowl of steamed vegetables (like the BirdsEye Steamers) before I go out with friends. That way I'm not so hungry. (The water suggestion is a great one I have done many times, but it often keeps me going to the bathroom all night - which might be a good thing if it gets you back to NSYU's strategy!)
