There is good advice here. Thanks to everyone that contributed thus far :)

Tips
Totally true...if you deprive yourself, sooner or later, you start cheating or binging. Eat what you really want, not what you think you should eat. If its not a super healthy choice, eat less of it. Be mindful. Eat slowly and see how you feel after eating certain foods. There are days I can't even think of eating an apple, so why would I eat one? eat what you truly want.
Kingkeld, what do you think of this tip? :)

1200 Calories and can't lose weight?
The strange case of Nightshade03... Some good advice here - from yourself too.

Tips
Also, I see what everyone is saying about the counting of calories. I agree to some extend but as a whole I don't think it is something that is or should be sustainable. It is just not normal to weigh and measure everything you consume. However, if the aim of this exercise is to learn about food and your limits thereof, then yes. But at some point you have to be able to maintain your weight without any counting tools. You have to develop some kind of instinct that will guide you to make the right food choices. .

Tips
Thanks all :) If I can offer someone just one tip it will be that you need to realize that it is a long-term "commitment". You're in for the long haul. Dieting is not a quick fix. In my case I know that I did not make the kind of lifestyle chance that is required. My humble 30 kg loss thus far has only been due to sheer sweat and exercise. I know that I won’t be able to keep it up forever... I did manage to cut out sugar from my diet (with the odd small cheat now-and-then) and also have eliminated red meat completely from my diet. I miss the barbeques and jerky though… I am not sure what else I should (and what I am prepared) to do. Why is all the nice foods bad………why!? :)

What is that one single dieting tip that you will advocate and stand by?

new strategy
What I found to be working for me thus far is that you have to think in terms of ‘averages’ If today I eat less and the next day I eat more it would mean that my calorie intake is less now and high tomorrow but over time the input should be less than the output. You have to let go of this diet thing now and then because at the end of the day it is also a psychosomatic challenge. Have that treat now and then, and move on. This journey is long with many obstacles. Trying to follow all the rules all the time is like setting yourself up for failure. Look at Kingkeld, he lost more than half of his body weight by doing exactly this (read up on his indulgence diet) “never trust a skinny chef’ they say – in our case, I’d rather take my advice from a person who has actually walked the road of weigh loss successfully...

Should I up my RDI on days where I exercise more?
I won't even try to offer an opinion... I can say this though, the more I know, the more I know I don't know...

Anyone?
Hi Everyone, thank you for your replies. What was said make sense. Have a good day!

Anyone?
Can someone perhaps answer this? The sum of my performance so far for January is a (rounded) 80 000 calorie deficit. This means that I should have shown a weight loss of [80 000 / 7000] = 11 kg (given that 1kg = 7000 calories) But it is not, my actual weight loss so far for the month is 6.1 Kg. This means that my figures are out by an enormous 1500 calories/day. How is this possible? I meticulously weigh and measure 99.9% of EVERYTHING I consume.

The end of an amazing journey, and the beginning of a new...
I got goose bumps reading this. There are not many people that can do what you did. Keld, you could place a big multi- billion dollar industry out of business! :) You have showed that it can be done by being regimented, by working hard and by laying down your LAW and sticking to it. I wish you all the best in whatever new endeavours lay ahead of you, and fortunately for us here it is not the end of Keld. I applaud you for taking to time and trying to help your fellow man. You are indeed one of a kind. WELL DONE!! [img]http://i.imgur.com/4Ot1T....

Changing scales... Changing weight
uhm... i dont know how i'd feel if someone gives me 'scale' for xmas :) By new scale do you mean an electronic scale? I have found that the electronic ones that we get nowadays are more accurate than the old spring loaded type..

Disappointing.
Thanks Diablo. I am in it for the long haul. It is just this early in the process, with such a lot to lose, a good second week would have perked me up.
