Interesting stuff Ruhu thanks for sharing it. eKatherine has hit on something I think I have just discovered. Two things. One I pretty much quit fruit for about 9 months and cheese for about 6 months. My stomach improved with the help of probiotics which I still take but I believe eliminating cheese completely for that time period has now allowed me to reintroduce cheese/dairy in moderation (1/2 oz of cheese and 4-6 TBSP cream) a day with no stomach issues. For the 9 months with only an ounce or 2 or blueberries a day (no other fruit at all) I now have brought back a banana every now and then or citrus/apples in moderations. Two- if I eat only a banana and some berries for breakfast I am starving almost immediately - but this morning I had 1 oz of almonds with 3 ounces of blueberries and I feel completely satisfied and it has been almost 3 hours. :)

What's going on?
Nice post Keld. Thank you for taking time from your busy day to keep my head in the game. I like eating LC because it seems to keep me feeling fuller AT TIMES but I have proven to ME that CICO is what works. I have MOSTLY stopped including a starch and bread with my meals and I know longer eat beans on a regular basis for the protein. I have always loved fish, chicken and meat so going LC has been a no brainer for me. I like going out to eat and ordering what I WANT and not what the restaurant wants me to fill up on. Give me ribs and broccoli please! I am by no means a LC prude though. I agree with your philosphy to chose the WOE that you want.

I need a "plan". An eating plan that you have chosen after researching foods for lowering cholesterol or losing weight (if that is what you want to do) will give you a starting point toward your good health. The more you research, learn on FatSecret and try out for you - the better you will be able to answer your own questions. I use to say ask a nutritionist or doctor but now I trust my own research over their lack of research. :) Good luck!

Canned coconut milk vs cartoned coconut milk
Thanks Ingria this info is very helpful. You are right because my SO Delicious unsweetened coconut milk in the carton has added calcium and other ingredients. The carton tricked me by have a bold ingredient list of COCONUT. After reading what you said I found the other info. I am only using it in my coffee right now and love it. I also used the canned in an Asian dish of Red Curry shrimp and it was delicious. I might try the canned in my coffee instead. I am going to try a coconut smoothie this weekend. :)

Shoes for beginning overweight runners?
Agree that you need a specialty running store. I was lucky and found one in Arlington Heights, IL - I didn't know they were mainly a Brooks store but the owner spent a long time with my high arches, size 12 and my 243 lb. body. I bought an indoor pair and an all weather pair. I've had every brand known to man and thanks to this man I am wearing the most comfortable shoes. Find someone that cares!

during what time are you the hungriest??
I am actually hungry the very first thing in the morning. I take a pill at 5:30 a.m. that has to be taken on empty stomach. I drink 20 oz of water with the pill, get ready for work and then eat breakfast about 7:30. Often when I am at work around 2-3 p.m. I start looking for a snack. That is where I agree with Sheonamcc. Healthy and accounted for handy food. Now it is usually a Mini Babybel light or string cheese. I keep homemade pita chips, yogurt, hummus & carrots around most of the time. I'm trying to think of some new snacks if anyone has any ideas!

What to eat?
[b]Breakfast[/b] - greek yogurt, blackberries & raspberries, Bear Naked Maple Pecan Granola. Or Steel cut Oatmeal w/a dash of Ceylon Cinnamon that I make ahead (about 4 days worth) with fruit. [b]Lunch[/b] - my homemade version of Wendy's "Apple, Pecan, Chicken salad with Pomegranate Vinaigrette". Also has spring lettuce & Gorgonzola. [b]Dinner[/b] - chicken, salmon or ground turkey with frozen Pictsweet microwave in the bag vegetables and a 1/2 serving of brown rice, potato or whole grain pasta. [b]Emergency snacks:[/b] Babybel light cheese, low fat string cheese, 5.5 oz V-8 original, homemade Pita Chips & hummus. I always keep these on hand at home and work. [b]Dessert:[/b] Fat free frozen chocolate yogurt or Ghiradelli Soiree dark chocolate.

Think outside the box. Eat any protein you like. We don't have to eat 'breakfast' foods for breaky, eat anything. I often have last nights dinner leftovers for breaky.
