Fat Americans
OMG sonia!!! I am from Colombia too and I miss jugo de lulo, mora, pina, maracuya.. if there is one thing i miss about home are the fruits and juices. my mouth is watering just thinking of them. I also miss all the organic and CHEAP veggies, meats, fruits, eggs... EVERYTHING is organic there.. That fact right there is FOR SURE one of the reasons why we get so fat when we get here.. haha

Fat Americans
Omg ditto on the fried plantains. They have this Latin fusion place called Brasa here that has wonderful food. NOM. @m, you're from here, have you been?
OMG CEVICHE IS THE BEST THING EVER INVENTED (ok maybe it isnt but it sounds SO good right now) Sancocho, Ajiaco, Fried plantains.. ahhh... all of that reminds me of home :(.. Fat Americans
I am from South America, and before I moved here i was 130 lbs. Everyone in my family made me pinky swear I would not become a Fat American. 10 years later... I am FAT :( Between all the wonderful food and not staying active I gained a lot of weight. From experience I think happens in America because we have a sedentary lifestyle, lots of processed food, and HUMONGOUS portions in comparison to other countries. I was amazed last time I went home and just by eating "normal" i dropped like 10 pounds in a month. I hope all the current efforts are effective in the long run so that an obese person is not refered to as "American Fat"

I wouldn't know what heaven looks like but I'm sure there is a lot of 5 ingredient Caramel Haaguen-D
I wouldn't know what heaven looks like but I'm sure there is a lot of 5 ingredient Caramel Haaguen-Dazs Ice cream there! I started this week with a fresh outlook in life. Knowing that God will deliver me from ALL evils (including the guy who cut me off during my morning commute). I realized that what I need to control is my portions and so far so good. I have not exceeded my calorie intake (1,500) and tonight I even had a piece of heaven for dessert. (YES i am referring to the ice cream) I wanted to devour the whole pint and I am not joking. Instead, like a good girl that I am, I measured the 1/2 cup and I even scanned the bar code with my phone BEFORE eating it. I can promise you I savored each and all of the 240 calories in that 1/2 a cup! I'm telling you it was all OF THAT and more. My challenge is going fine. I was planning on going to the gym yesterday but for some odd reason (or divine intervention?) I forgot my sneakers at home. So today i made sure i didn't forget the precious shoes and headed out to the gym. As I was exercising i realized 30 minutes , 2 times a week is TOTALLY do-able! perhaps even more times a week. But i wanna take it easy, perhaps after this challenge I can take up on a more challenging ummm.....challenge? (for lack of a better word, or a thesaurus)
