Good afternoon everyone! I had a meeting with myself yesterday and decided to take a day off. My husband and I spent the day walking around at AG Progress Days in State College, PA. It was a lot of fun and we got a lot of free stuff. I also visited a booth on hydroponic gardening and it started me thinking about having fresh veggie all year long. My husband has agreed that if I want to do it, he will help me set up an area in the basement. I could grow lettuce, kale, tomatoes, peppers, strawberries, broccoli, cauliflower, ect. My exercise today was walking and walking and walking from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. I didn't eat great, but did keep myself under control, so for a vaca day I call that a win. Great job Jason on the loss! Keep it up! Also, don't rule out the fun and exercise you can get from games for the wii, just pick games that require movement. I like the Wii Fit games they help with balance, strength, and flexibility and they are a lot of fun. Kimmy - sounds like you have had a long week. Enjoy your days off. Elaine - You are right, now is not the time to kick a caffeine addiction so good job on the decision to just avoid. I am also gearing up for my daughter's first year in school and even though she will only be going for 3 days, it is a little overwhelming trying to schedule my trips, school, dance lessons, ect. Exercise Routines for Elliptical Trainers
I just joined WW and a women at my meeting was asking me about my exercise. When I told her about using an elliptical trainer she started asking me for advice on how to start and how to figure out routines. I told her I do intervals and that I started by doing what I could. She is up to 8 minutes. I also told her the machine probably has programed workouts, but she is a little hesitant since they are for longer time frames. Does anyone know a good elliptical interval workout that would work for beginners as well as for me? Also, do you think I should recommend that she start stretching as well?

Jillian Micheal's 30 day shred
I also love her workouts. I have done the 30 day shred, but recently have fallen in love with her yoga inferno video. I especially like workout 2. It works your whole body, but leaves you feeling relaxed. My 3 year old is just becoming coordinated and loves to do jm videos because they are simple. They might be simple enough for my 3 yr old, but they are effective.

If you really want to know, get a calorie counter to wear and get a more accurate calorie count. You can get them as arm bands and watches. I used a watch to verify my Kinect's calorie count. They are based on heart rate.

It is suppose to beautiful this weekend in western, pa as well. well I doubt I will get to go for a run, but will get to play on the swingers, hopscotch, and blow bubbles with my 3 yr old.

Too much or just right?
When I started I initially dropped that fast to, but it leveled off now and so I only lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Congrats on the weight loss.

Jillian Michaels 30 day shred
I did it last October and lost 10 lbs. I put it in using other and call it jillian michaels. I used a calorie counter and heart rate monitor and found that I was burning approximately 425 calories a workout. Good luck.

Have you tried other workout videos other than jillian michaels? Collage has a large collection of videos for every type of video usually cheaper that most places including walmart.

I also love zumba. I do the zumba core on the Kinect. At the end of the workout or game (however you want to look at it) it tells you approximately how many calories burned based on your weight. I weigh in around 179 to give you a reference point. For me an hour of zumba is between 825 & 850 calories. 45 minutes is between 625 & 650. 20 minutes is between 425 & 525. I hope this helps.

not doing so well
I know how you feel. I don't work 3rd, but own my own business and when I have to travel, I sometimes have to get up at 5:30 or 6. My daughter is now 3, but didn't start sleeping all night until about 6 months ago. I would sometimes get up so many times, I would get 4 hours of sleep. Just hang in there, you will make it and as your baby gets older, it may not get easier it will get more fun. Hang in there. Even if you aren't formally exercising you are burning more calories just trying to stay awake

Collage video also has treadmill workouts on DVD that give you really nice scenery and different levels so you can work at your own pace. Also the fitness magazines usually has some good tips and workouts. Also I have found that if you are sore the next day to not cancel your workout. Just do a lighter workout so your muscles can warm up. I have found doing this helps get rid of the sore muscles faster.

Best time for doing exercise, morning or night?
I like to exercise right after lunch and right after dinner. I usually break up my workout because my 3 year old has a short attention span. I find if you are exercising you are making that step to a healthier you, so does it really matter when during the day we do it as long as we do?

I have used both a Wii and digital scale and feel they are both off at times (lol). Good luck.

Shhhh! It's a Secret
I have told people that I am trying to loose weight, but find that the only person that really cares is me. When you keep family and friends around you that like or love you for who you are not what you weigh, they don't recognize that you might be overweight (sorry don't care for the words fat or obese). They support me and cheer me on, but tend not to dwell on it.
