Wondering about planet fitness??
It's a bare bones gym (former employee/current member). If you are looking for a gym with a pool or a sauna/steam room, this is not it. Most PF's have a 30 min workout station, a lot of cardio machines, circuit training machines, and a weights section. They all have lockers, and they all have showers. Most are clean, staff is nice, and yes, they have pizza and bagels once a month (and tootsie rolls everyday). They also have free group training sessions (one hour each, and I believe every member gets 4 free sessions at least at my PF) and they are run by a certified trainer.

Sensa... how does it work?
Ha! Good to know. Gee, who'da thunk that healthy foods and excersize did the trick?

Sensa... how does it work?
Hey guys, I'm just curious how sensa works. I know it messes with your senses, but IDk how or if it's just an appetite surpressant. Is it, ya know... safe? Or is it a "scientific" (and I use that term VERY lightly) way to starve yourself?

losing Lbs but not inches :/
Gaining muscle keeps the inches on (damn it). If you are on a more rigorous activity level that you were used to, this means you're developing muscles your body hasn't used all that much in the past. Keep at it, you can do it.

emotional stress=binging. need a detox to get me back on track. suggestions?
I know what you mean. For me my mental trick was thinking, and saying out loud to myself: "I am determined to have a good day today until 10am." Saying this about every 15-30 minutes from the time I woke up until 10 am drove my mind towards postive thoughts and happy things, making me happier and wanting to move and "be good". And by 10am, your body is fully awake and motivated (if you're working) and already on the positive track and it wants to stay on that track. As far as a detox is concerned, go unprocessed for 3-7 days. That means, no processed foods. Whole fruits, veggies, and meat. Bread/noodles if you make them. If you can't pronounce the words in the food, you shouldn't eat it. Oh, and water. Water water water. Feel better beautiful.

Beat the salt bloat
Hiya! I understand there's a lot of salt in some things (ie: soda, chips, popcorn, things we're probably not supposed to have in any amount except "very little") besides not eating it, how can you beat the bloat that inevitably comes with eating salty foods?

How do you stay motivated?
I ask for help here. I have a friend of mine who wants to lose some weight too, so we work out at least once a week or so. We can hold each other accountable, but we are just as often each other's downfall as we are each other's ass kickers (we're good drinking buddies too). Having strangers (oddly enough) keep me accountable and in communication with me helps.

how quickly will i lose fitness? ive been sick and havent exercised at all for 1.5wks. when i can go
Lost your motivation, very possibly. But no, not out of shape. Take it slow, you're body is still in recovery mode, and build back up to it lest you get sick again. You cahn doo eet!

solo mission
I'm alone in this too. I have workout buddies I see on a weekly (mostly) basis, but the eating right part is killer for me.

?
Challenges are pretty simple. Just do yo' thang. the point of the challenge is to meet it. If there are mini challenges, they expect a weekly pass/fail update and any comments you have. Feel free to post on the challenge board, look for help, advice, or that swift kick in the arse that I know I look for on a regular basis. happy challenges!

Bloody tired
Last weekend, went to a tournament, worked hard, did well. Now, the high has worn off and I feel like a fat slob. Currently don't like the way I feel, but don't want to do anything about it (wishfully thinking along the lines of pain-free, cheap, self lypho-suction, but that's as far as it goes). I'm tired, the coffee is so not working today, I'm still recovering from the bruises (but see, here, using this as an excuse), and I don't want to do anything. Advice?

Toxin break down
I had a really hard workout last weekend. Two days of easily burning 4000+ calories/day. Then yesterday, I got sick. Dog sick. I'm totally fine now. I'm pretty sure that it was toxin buildup in my system and I didn't drink enough water to flush it out. But, besides the obvious of drinking more water, what are some other preventatives I could do to keep that from happening again? note: toxin buildup (for those who don't know) is when you have things (such as bacteria or other naturally occuring chemicals) in your system that can get locked up into your muscles. They can be released into your blood system via massage (which is why they always tell you to drink water) or general R&R after a rough weekend. If you don't flush them out you experience flu like symptoms and possible vomiting, diarehha, the whole 9 yards.

Here I've come to... lose weight?
Hi! I'm Amber. I'm 27, about 40-50lbs overweight (stupid BMI chart) and I'm in training for world championships for shotokan karate that's happening in November in Sydney, Austrailia. Just found out last weekend that I qualified for it (I got 2nd in Kata, 3rd in Kumite). Now I just have to get moving. My 3rd degree blackbelt test is in summer (also, informed last weekend that I was going to do that too). So I have a lot of work ahead of me. I know I'm overweight. I know my metabolism is crap. The last time I was actually in my weight range was in high school and even then I was considered overweight. As a matter of fact, according to the Doctor's chart, I'm obese. Don't understand it really. I'm not here to make excuses. I'm here to get my happy big arse back on track. So there you have it!

Looking for a motivational buddy
Well, I've been in contact with a few of you already via messages on FS. Seems to work out so far. But definately, at least once a week check ins would be good. More could be better, but bare minimum for sure is once a week. Rey, you and I are already in close contact and I think that unless otherwise arranged with everyone else here, we can stay on FS. You know, long distance phone charges and all. I don't mind texting in the least... but it's also free here.

Looking for a motivational buddy
Who will lovingly (and sometimes not so lovingly) mutually kick me in the arse. Also, someone who is willing to have the same returned to them. I want (key word is "want") to loose about 40lbs by November due to attempting to make weight for world championships and I just seem to be loosing the same 5 lbs on my own. If I don't make it, it's ok, but I still want to try. I need someone who is blunt. I don't do coy or passive aggressive. Just doesn't work for me. Any takers?
